ホルダ１は上述された３つの円筒ジャケット部材２、
３、４を含み、それらの部材のジャケットは同一の厚み
の壁を有するが、異なった断面を有する。円筒ジャケッ
ト部材３の内径Ｄ２は円筒ジャケット部材２の内径Ｄ３
よりも小さく、円筒ジャケット部材４の内径Ｄ１は円筒
ジャケット部材３の内径Ｄ２よりも小さい。部材２およ
び３、または４および３はそれぞれ、接続片１１または
１０によってそれぞれ互いに接続される。
【００１２】図３および図４に示されるように、接続片
１０および１１の両方は、それぞれ第１の円筒ジャケッ
ト部分１０ａおよび１１ａと、それぞれ第２の円筒ジャ
ケット部分１０ｂおよび１１ｂとを有する。接続片１１
の部分１１ａの外径Ｄ３は部材２の内径に対応する。接
続片１１の部分１１ｂの外径Ｄ２は部材３の内径に対応
する。接続片１０の部分１０ａの外径Ｄ２は部材３の内
径に対応する。接続片１０の部分１０ｂの外径Ｄ１は部
材４の内径に対応する。
【００１３】それぞれの接続部材１０および１１の第１
の部分１０ａおよび１１ａには、それぞれ第２の部分１
０ｂおよび１１ｂに隣接した側にそれぞれ突出部２０お
よび２１が形成され、突出部２０および２１の外径はそ
れぞれの部材３および２の外径に対応する。
【００１４】それぞれの接続片１０および１１の第１の
円筒ジャケット部分１０ａおよび１１ａと第２の円筒ジ
ャケット部分１０ｂおよび１１ｂとの両方は、軸が円筒
軸と直角をなして延びるボルト５０を受け入れるための
ねじ穴３０、４０および３１、４１をそれぞれ含む。ね
じ穴３０、４０、３１、４１の直径は、円筒ジャケット
部材２、３、４の菱形の開口５の向かい合う２つの辺の
間の間隔よりも小さい。
【００１５】それぞれの接続片１０および１１のねじ穴
３０、４０および３１、４１の軸と、対応する突出部２
０および２１との間の距離は、第１の完全な菱形の開口
５の中心と、対応する円筒ジャケット部材２、３、４の
端縁８または９との間の距離と等しい。組立てられる
と、第１の完全な開口５の１つを通されるボルト５０が
接続片の対応するねじ穴に係合するように、スペースホ
ルダの部材２、３、４は接続片１０および１１にボルト
で留められる。ボルト５０の頭部の直径は菱形の開口５
の向かい合う２つの辺の間隔よりも大きい。
【００１６】円筒ジャケット部材２、３、４、接続片１
０、１１およびボルト５０は身体に優しい材料、たとえ
ばチタンで作られる。
【００１７】動作において、円筒ジャケット部材２およ
び４のそれぞれ横断面および直径は、互いに接続される
脊椎骨のそれぞれ横断面または直径と実質的に対応する
ように選択される。円筒ジャケット部材３のそれぞれ横
断面または直径は、円筒ジャケット部材２の直径よりも
小さく、かつ円筒ジャケット部材４の直径よりも大きく
なるように選択される。円筒ジャケット部材２、３およ
び４の軸の長さは、組立てられると、脊椎骨が相互間の
もとの距離を維持するような様態で、接続されるそれぞ
れの脊椎骨の間にスペースホルダ１が嵌まるように選択
される。したがって、これらそれぞれの円筒ジャケット
部材４および３が接続片１０のそれぞれ第１の１０ａの
部分または第２の１０ｂの部分に押し込まれるので、部
材４および３の対面する端部は接続片１０の突出部２０
に各々当接する。その上、それぞれの部材２または３の
壁における菱形の開口５のそれぞれ１つは、部材を回転
することによって、それぞれ、ねじ穴３０または４０に
整合される。図１に示されるように、次に、部材４およ
び３はそれぞれのボルト５０をねじ穴３０および４０に
ねじ込むことによって接続片１０で接続される。同様
に、部材２および３は接続片１１で接続される。
【００１８】こうして、スペースホルダ１における、部
材２の先の尖った部分８ａ、８ｂと部材４の先の尖った
部分９ａ、９ｂとはそれぞれ、ひとつの脊椎骨の捩じり
運動が抑えられるか、または突出する先の尖った部分を
介してそれぞれ他の脊椎骨に伝達されるように、接続さ
れる脊椎骨の正面に係合する。
【００１９】スペースホルダ１の少なくとも内部は開口
を介して骨セメントで充填される。望ましくは、骨セメ
ントは、開口を介して外側に出てきて外側で形を整えら
れるような量で供給することもできる。好ましくは、骨
セメントはスペースホルダ１を挿入した後で充填され
る。しかしながら、スペースホルダ１を挿入する前にそ
の内部を充填することも可能である。
【００２０】図２に示されるような第２の実施の形態に
従うスペースホルダでは、同一の直径の２つの円筒ジャ
ケット部材１２、１３の間に、より小さな直径を有する
第３の円筒ジャケット部材１４が設けられる。あらゆる
部材１２、１３および１４は第１の実施の形態に関連し
て説明された構造を有する。部材１２および１４、また
は１４および１３をそれぞれ接続するために、第１の実
施の形態の接続片１０および１１に対応して形成される
類似した接続片１５が設けられる。第１および第２の円
筒ジャケット部分１５ａ、１５ｂの外径Ｄ４およびＤ３
は、部材１２および１４の対応する内径に適合される。
第２の実施の形態に従うスペースホルダは、空間を節約
する接続が必要とされる場合に、同じ横断面を有する脊
椎骨を接続するために主に用いられるので、この場合
は、部材１４のような、直径が縮小された中央片を用い
るのが有利である。
【００２１】上述された実施の形態では、ジャケット部
材の横断面は円形である。しかしながら、横断面は好ま
しくは、接続される脊椎骨の横断面の形状の関数として
選択される。腰領域の脊椎骨を接続するためには、ジャ
ケット部材は好ましくは腎臓形または楕円形の横断面を
有する。しかしながら、接続片の部分に依存して、両端
部で異なった横断面の形状を有するスペースホルダをそ
れぞれの脊椎骨に接続するために設けることも可能であ
る。
【００２２】スペースホルダが３つのジャケット部材か
ら構成されることは不可欠ではない。２つの部材で十分
であるか、または３つよりもさらに多い部材が必要とさ
れる場合もある。いくつかの適当な大きさの部材を有す
るスペースホルダを適切に構成すると、脊椎骨の交換条
件に対して容易にスペースホルダを適合できる。
【００２３】スペースホルダを骨セメントで充填する代
わりに、挿入された骨片の周囲で支持機能をスペースホ
ルダが引き継ぐように、本人または他人の骨片をスペー
スホルダの内部へ挿入することも可能である。このよう
に、骨セメントまたは骨片がずれないように脊髄管はし
っかりと保護される。
【００２４】この発明は特定的な例による実施の形態に
関連して記述されているが、前掲の特許請求の範囲の範
疇および趣旨内のあらゆる変更および均等物を含むと意
図されることを理解されたい。

Claims (18)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 異なった横断面を有する少なくとも２つ
    のジャケット形状の部材（２，３，４，１２，１３，１
    ４）と、前記部材を接続するための少なくとも１つの接
    続片（１０，１１，１５）とを備えたことを特徴とす
    る、脊椎骨のためのスペースホルダ。
  2. 【請求項２】 前記部材（２，３，４，１２，１３，１
    ４）は円筒の形状を有することを特徴とする、請求項１
    に記載のスペースホルダ。
  3. 【請求項３】 開口（５）は前記ジャケット形状の部材
    （２，３，４，１２，１３，１４）の各壁に設けられる
    ことを特徴とする、請求項１または２に記載のスペース
    ホルダ。
  4. 【請求項４】 前記ジャケット形状の部材（２，３，
    ４，１２，１３，１４）の各々の少なくとも１つの端縁
    （８，９）は少なくとも部分的に、先の尖った部分（８
    ａ，８ｂ，９ａ，９ｂ）でギザギザがあることを特徴と
    する、請求項１から３のうちのいずれか１つに記載のス
    ペースホルダ。
  5. 【請求項５】 前記壁は、複数のほぼ四角形の開口
    （５）を有する金属薄板で形成され、その開口は、それ
    ぞれの対角線が前記部材（２，３，４，１２，１３，１
    ４）の長手軸に実質的に平行に延びるように整列されて
    いることを特徴とする、請求項３または４に記載のスペ
    ースホルダ。
  6. 【請求項６】 前記開口（５）は実質的に菱形であり、
    前記対角線は前記菱形の長手の対角線であることを特徴
    とする、請求項５に記載のスペースホルダ。
  7. 【請求項７】 前記先の尖った部分（８ａ，８ｂ，９
    ａ，９ｂ）は前記金属薄板の前記端縁（８，９）にＶ字
    形の凹部によって各々形成されることを特徴とする、請
    求項５または６に記載のスペースホルダ。
  8. 【請求項８】 前記先の尖った部分（８ａ，８ｂ，９
    ａ，９ｂ）は隣接した脊椎骨部分とよりよく係合するた
    めに面取りされることを特徴とする、請求項４から７の
    うちのいずれか１つに記載のスペースホルダ。
  9. 【請求項９】 前記接続片（１０，１１，１５）は、第
    １の部分（１０ａ，１１ａ，１５ａ）および第２の部分
    （１０ｂ，１１ｂ，１５ｂ）を有するジャケット形状の
    部材として形成され、第１の部分の外部ジャケット横断
    面は、第１のジャケット形状の部材（２）の内部ジャケ
    ット横断面に対応し、第２の部分の外部ジャケット横断
    面は、前記第１のジャケット形状の部材に接続される第
    ２のジャケット形状の部材（３）の内部ジャケット横断
    面に対応することを特徴とする、請求項１から８のうち
    のいずれか１つに記載のスペースホルダ。
  10. 【請求項１０】 ２つの部分（１０ａ，１０ｂ；１１
    ａ，１１ｂ；１５ａ，１５ｂ）の各々がボルト（５０）
    を受け入れるためのねじ穴を有することを特徴とする、
    請求項９に記載のスペースホルダ。
  11. 【請求項１１】 前記接続片（１０，１１，１５）は前
    記部分（１０ａ，１０ｂ；１１ａ，１１ｂ）の接続位置
    で突出部（２０，２１）を有し、前記突出部は、互いに
    接続される前記部材（２，３，４，１２，１３，１４）
    の最大の横断面よりも大きいか、またはそれと等しい横
    断面を有することを特徴とする、請求項９または１０に
    記載のスペースホルダ。
  12. 【請求項１２】 前記接続片（１０，１１）の前記第１
    の部分および前記第２の部分（１０ａ，１０ｂ；１１
    ａ，１１ｂ）は円筒ジャケット形状であることを特徴と
    する、請求項９から１１のうちのいずれか１つに記載の
    スペースホルダ。
  13. 【請求項１３】 前記接続片は前記ジャケット形状の部
    材にねじ接続されることを特徴とする、請求項１から１
    ２のうちのいずれか１つに記載のスペースホルダ。
  14. 【請求項１４】 前記スペースホルダは３つのジャケッ
    ト形状の部材（２，３，４；１２，１３，１４）と、前
    記部材のうちのそれぞれ２つを各々接続する２つの接続
    片（１０，１１；１５，１５）とを含むことを特徴とす
    る、請求項１から１３のうちのいずれか１つに記載のス
    ペースホルダ。
  15. 【請求項１５】 第３のジャケット形状の部材（１４）
    を介して接続される、３つのジャケット形状の部材のう
    ちの２つ（１２，１３）は同じ横断面を有することを特
    徴とする、請求項１４に記載のスペースホルダ。
  16. 【請求項１６】 前記部材および前記接続片は腎臓形の
    横断面を有することを特徴とする、請求項１、または３
    から１５のうちのいずれか１つに記載のスペースホル
    ダ。
  17. 【請求項１７】 前記スペースホルダは身体に優しい金
    属、特にチタンで形成されることを特徴とする、請求項
    １から１６のうちのいずれか１つに記載のスペースホル
    ダ。
  18. 【請求項１８】 前記ジャケット形状の部材の内部は骨
    セメントで充填されることを特徴とする、請求項１から
    １７のうちのいずれか１つに記載のスペースホルダ。
