Abstract

PURPOSE: To position the leg part of a male terminal metal fitting at a low cost, efficiently, and without detracting alignment. CONSTITUTION: Accompanied with the insertion of a connecting part 32A into a through hole 34, a leg part 32B is moved in parallel to fit a protrusion piece 36 into a fitting hole 35. Since the protrusion piece 36 and the fitting hole 35 are faced so as to be fitted in a direction same as the through direction of the connecting part 32A, in a fitting work, it is eliminated that the protrusion piece 36 interferes with a housing 31 or the other member, etc., to bendingly deform a male terminal metal fitting 32. Consequently, the protrusion piece 36 and the fitting hole 35 are surely and rightly fitted to eliminate the detraction of the alignment of the leg part 32B. The protrusion piece 36 and the fitting hole 35, a positioning means 33, are formed on the leg part 32B and the housing 31, thereby reducing a cost. Since the male terminal metal fitting 32 can be separately mounted one by one, thereby facilitating the fitting of the protrusion piece 36 and the fitting hole 35.

2. Description of the Related Art A board connector comprises a housing having a hood portion and an L-shaped bent male terminal fitting, and a connecting portion of the male terminal fitting connected to the female terminal fitting is inserted into the housing by press fitting. The tip side is projected into the hood portion, and the leg portion connected to the substrate is exposed on the side opposite to the hood portion of the housing. In such a board connector, since the connection portion of the male terminal fitting is in the hood portion, it is protected from interference with other members. On the other hand, since the leg portion is exposed on the side opposite to the hood portion of the housing, there is a possibility that the leg portion may be bent or tilted due to contact with another member to cause misalignment. Therefore, a positioning means is provided to prevent the misalignment of the legs.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In the above means,
When the male terminal fitting 21 is mounted, the connecting portion 21c is held in the through hole 23 so that it cannot move up and down. Therefore, due to the frictional resistance generated between the protrusion 21b and the inclined surface 22a, the male terminal fitting 21 is prevented.
Elastically deforms so as to expand at its bent portion, and in that state, the leg 21a moves along the slope 22a so as to follow the insertion movement of the connecting portion 21c, and then the protrusion 21b is elastically restored by the elastic restoring force. It is adapted to fit in the recess 22b.

In the above description, the male terminal fitting 32 is preliminarily bent into an L-shape and mounted on the housing 31, and at the same time when the male terminal fitting 32 is mounted, the projecting piece 3 is attached.
6 is fitted in the fitting hole 35, the assembling is carried out, but the same positioning means 33 as in the present embodiment.
When the above is provided, the assembly can be performed by a procedure different from the above description. That is, the male terminal fitting 32 is the protruding piece 3
By bending and molding only 6, the connecting portion 32A and the leg portion 3
2B and a temporary molding state in which they are aligned with each other, and press fitting into the through hole 34 is performed in this state. After that, the leg 32B is formed by bending the male terminal fitting 32 downward.
At the same time that the protrusions 36 are formed, the protrusions 36 are fitted into the fitting holes 35. At this time, the projecting piece 36 approaches the fitting hole 35 so as to draw an arc, but immediately before the projecting piece 36 is fitted into the fitting hole 35, the projecting piece 36 has a posture in which the projecting piece 36 faces in the front-rear direction. Moreover, since the upper and lower edges of the projecting piece 36 are tapered, the projecting piece 36 smoothly fits into the fitting hole 35 without hitting the rear surface of the block portion 31C. Even with such a procedure, the protrusion 36 does not interfere with or get caught in the housing 31 or other members.
Since B is held in the correct posture, there is no fear that the alignment of the leg portion 32B is disturbed.

Next, the operation of this embodiment will be described. When the connecting portion 52A of the male terminal fitting 52 is pressed into the through hole 54 from the rear of the housing 51, the leg portion 52B moves toward the housing 51 in parallel while approaching the rear surface of the housing 51, and the fitting protrusion 55 is formed. It passes through the fitting hole 56. Then, as soon as the connecting portion 52A reaches the predetermined mounting position, the front surface of the leg portion 52B abuts on the stopper surface of the boss 51C. From this state, the tip end portion of the fitting projection 55 protruding rearward of the fitting hole 56 is caulked by a jig (not shown) to be plastically deformed. As a result, the fitting projection 55 is deformed so as to expand in the fitting hole 56, the outer circumference of the fitting projection 55 and the inner circumference of the fitting hole 56 are closely attached to each other, and the fitting projection 55 is fitted without rattling. The portion thus formed becomes a caulking head portion 55A and spreads around the hole edge of the fitting hole 56 in a brim-like manner to be in close contact, and the leg portion 52B is sandwiched between the caulking head portion 55A and the stopper surface of the boss 51C. (See FIG. 7).

In the present embodiment, the assembly can be performed by a procedure different from that described above. That is, the male terminal fitting 52 is preliminarily formed with the connecting portion 52A and the leg portion 52B in a straight line, and is press-fitted into the through hole 54 in this state, and then the male terminal fitting 52 is turned downward. At the same time as the leg portion 52B is formed by bending, the fitting protrusion 55 is formed.
And the fitting hole 56 are fitted together. At this time, the fitting hole 56 approaches the fitting projection 55 so as to draw an arc, but immediately before the fitting projection 55 is fitted into the fitting hole 56, the fitting projection 55 and the fitting hole 55 56, the front surface of the leg portion 52B does not abut the tip end surface of the fitting projection 55, and therefore the fitting projection 55 is located.
Smoothly fits into the fitting hole 56. Even with such a procedure, the leg portion 52B does not interfere with or get caught in the housing 51 or other members, so that the fitting protrusion 55 and the fitting hole 56 are surely fitted to each other so that the leg portion 52B is correct. Since it is held in the posture, there is no fear that the alignment of the leg portion 52B is disturbed. In addition, as described above, when the male terminal fitting 52 is mounted in the housing 51 in a straight line and then assembled by a bending process, the male terminal fitting 52 is mounted on the housing 51. Instead of fitting the connecting portion 52A in the through hole 54 from the rear side first, the leg portion 52B may be inserted in the through hole 54 from the hood portion 51B side first. When the fitting is performed in such a direction, a large resistance force can be generated between the through hole 54 and the connection portion 52A against an external force in the same direction as the fitting direction. Connect the terminal fittings to the connecting part 52
It is possible to prevent the connecting portion 52A from being displaced rearward in the through hole 54 due to the pressing force from the female terminal fitting when fitted to A.
