送位置を検出するセンサの検出信号を基準として制御す
るようにしたので、記録媒体を供給する前に第一の媒体
搬送部と第二の媒体搬送部との間で記録媒体を往復動さ
せ、往路では第一の媒体扱き部材を記録媒体に接触させ
てこの第一の媒体扱き部材で記録媒体を扱き、その扱い
た部分をプレスローラで圧延し、復路では第二の媒体扱
き部材を記録媒体に接触させてこの第二の媒体扱き部材
で記録媒体を扱き、その扱いた部分をプレスローラで圧
延し、しかる後に第一及び第二の媒体扱き部材を記録媒
体から退避させるとともに対のプレスローラを開放した
状態で第一及び第二の媒体搬送部により記録媒体をデー
タ処理部に供給することができる。また、記録媒体を圧
延する過程では、センサの検出信号を基準として、第一
及び第二ローラ接離手段、プレスローラ接離手段、第一
及び第二媒体扱き部材接離手段の動作を制御することに
より、記録媒体の搬送方向が変化しても、その進行方向
側に位置する第一又は第二の媒体搬送部の押えローラや
プレスローラや第一又は第二の媒体扱き部材を記録媒体
搬送路から退避させることにより、記録媒体の進行方向
側の端縁に抵抗を与えることなく圧延動作を行うことで
きる。したがって、記録媒体を給紙する場合にジャムや
斜行の発生を防止することができ、さらに、データ処理
