て、前記のクリヤー塗膜をカラークリヤー塗膜ならしめ
るという方法が非常に有効であることを確認した。ただ
し、上記の内のc項の清浄度を保護する手段とは、要す
るにb項の乾燥とd項の塗装との間でクロムメッキ面を
汚さないことであって、その保護手段が外見に現われる
ことを要しない。例えば、乾燥後、ただちに塗装を行な
うならば、この場合「汚損される機会を与えない」とい
うことが保護の手段である。また、b項において水滴痕
が残らないように乾燥させるという条件は、水洗および
乾燥における清浄度の表現である。すなわち、水滴痕と
は、この場合、洗滌水の蒸発残滓であって、肉眼で識別
し得る水滴痕の存在は清浄水の不純、もしくは乾燥雰囲
気の塵埃を示唆するものである。本発明が所期の目的を
達成するためには、肉眼で感知し得る水滴痕を生じない
程度の清浄度が必要とされる。この水滴痕は主として微
小異物の不存在を表すものであり、c項に記載したヌレ
性は、油気や酸化膜などの肉眼で識別できない、いわば

明者が創作して本出願人によって別途出願中の発明(特
願平6−211111号)であって、以下、先願の発明
と呼ぶことにする。図2は上記先願発明に係る耐チッピ
ング性を有するカラークリヤー塗膜の構成方法における
1実施例を示す模式的な工程図であって、(A)は水洗
工程を、(B)は乾燥工程を、(C)は保護工程を、
(D)は塗装工程を、それぞれ描いてある。ただし、模
式化して描いてあるので、必ずしも本発明方法の実施状
態を写実的に表してはいない。(A)図に示すごとくA
BS(アクリロニトリル・ブタジェン・スチレン樹脂)
製のベース部材1の表面にクロムメッキ2が成膜されて
いる。このクロムメッキ2の表面を、ノズル3から噴出
する純水4で洗浄する。この場合の純水とは、水溶液の
反対語としての純水の意であって、高純度化学における
純水の意ではない。また、水道栓を描いてあるのは一見
して理解し易いように描いたものであって、実施例を写
実的に描いたものではない。(B)図のごとく、水洗し
たクロムメッキ2の表面を、ブロワ5から噴出する温風
で乾燥させる。これも一見して理解し易いように模式化
して描いたものであり、要するに清浄な状態で乾燥させ
れば良い。(C)図に示すように、保護手段7によって
クロムメッキ2の表面の清浄度を維持する。必ずしも図
のようにカバーで覆うことを要せず、作業場全体を無塵
室にしても良い。このようにして、クロムメッキ2の面
のヌレ性を40ダイン/cm以上に保つ。(D)図に示
すように、透明顔料10をシリコン・アクリル系2液反
応型塗料9の塗料樹脂(ワニス)に混和して所望の色調
に整え、これをスプレーガン8でクロムメッキ面2に塗
装し、15〜25μmのカラークリヤー塗膜11を成膜

いてあり、塗装は必ずしもスプレーガンで行なうことを
要しない。(A)〜(C)図に示したようにしてクロム
メッキ2の表面が清浄に保たれているので、シリコン・
アクリル系2液反応型塗料9はクロムメッキ2に対して
良好な親和性(化学的付着性)を示し、かつ、クリヤー
塗装膜厚が15μm以上あるから充分な耐チッピング性
を有するとともに、塗装膜厚が25μm以下であるから
凝集破損による界面剥離の虞れが無く、耐久性に優れて

発明におけると同様である。図1(B)のように、清浄
になったクロムメッキ2の面に、2液ポリエステル系透
明チッピングプライマ12により、透明プライマ塗膜1
3を成膜する。本図1においては、一見して作業内容を
理解できるように、スプレーガン8で塗装している状態
を模式的に表したが、実施の状態を写実的に描いたもの
ではない。上記透明プライマ塗膜の膜厚寸法は、10〜
15μmとなるように制御する。10μm未満では耐チ
ッピング性の向上が充分でなく、また15μm以上にし
ても、コスト上昇に見合った効果が期待されないからで
ある。この場合、仮に1液性オレフィン系プライマ塗膜
などを形成すると、紫外線劣化による界面剥離を生じる
虞れが有るので、本発明においては耐紫外線劣化性能
(耐候性)に優れた2液ポリエステル系のクリアーチッ
ピングプライマを用いるのである。さらに図1(C)に
示すように、2液反応型クリヤー塗料14に透明顔料1
0を調合して所望の色調とし、先に形成した透明プライ
マ塗膜13の上に、厚さ寸法15〜25μmのカラーク
リヤー塗膜15を成層する。この場合のカラークリヤー
塗膜15の厚さ寸法についての技術的な意味をさらに詳
しく述べると、厚さ寸法15μm未満では充分な耐チッ
ピング性が得られないことは、先願の発明におけるカラ
ークリヤー塗膜11について述べた処と同様である。本
発明方法におけるカラークリヤー塗膜15は、クロムメ
ッキ2に対して直接的に付着せず、透明プライマ塗膜1
3を介在させているので、厚さ寸法が25μmを超えて
も凝集破壊による界面剥離を生じる危険性はさして大き
くない。しかし乍ら、25μmを越えると均一な成層が
難しく、加工コストが増大するにも拘らず、コスト増加
に見合うメリットが無いから、厚さ寸法は15〜25μ
mが適正である。本発明方法は先願の発明の改良であっ
て、該先願の発明に比して耐チッピング性が格段に向上
し、加工コストは品質向上と見合う程度に増加する。従
って、製品に求められる品質のレベルに応じて、本発明
方法と先願発明方法との内の何れか一方を選択すること
は可能であり、かつ実際的に賢明である。

あり、かつ塗膜厚さが15μm以上であるから、優れた
耐チッピング性を示すが、さらに、2液ポリエステル系
の透明チッピングプライマの上に成層されているので、
これらクリヤーと膜と透明チッピングプライマとの協働
によって優れた耐チッピング効果が得られる。さらに、
a〜cの工程によってクロムメッキ表面の清浄度が確保
されるので、2液ポリエステル系の透明チッピングプラ
イマは該クロムメッキ表面に対して親和性を発揮し、強
固に付着する。さらに、前記2液反応型クリヤー塗料が
アクリルポリオール系もしくはシリコンアクリル系であ
るから、上記2液ポリエステル系の透明チッピングプラ
イマの付着性が良く、剥離の虞れ無く成層される。上記
2液反応型クリヤー塗料は太陽光線中の紫外線を通過さ
せるので、プライマは紫外線を受けて劣化する虞れ無し
としないが、本発明方法では2液ポリエステル系の透明
チッピングプライマを用いるので、紫外線によって劣化
しにくく、耐候性に優れている。従って、メッキ面とプ
ライマ層との界面剥離を生じない。さらに、本発明に用
いる2液反応型クリヤー塗料はアクリルポリオール系も
しくはシリコンアクリル系であるから、透明顔料を調合
することによって所望色調のカラークリアー塗膜を形成
せしめることができ、クロム色と異なる光輝発色をさせ
て意匠を整えることにより、商品価値をして高からしめ
るという優れた実用的効果を奏する。

外部からの衝撃に耐える耐チッピング性を向上せしめる
方法において、 a.クロムメッキ表面を水洗する工程と、 b.水洗されたクロムメッキ表面に水滴痕が残らないよ
うに乾燥させる工程と、 c.乾燥したクロムメッキ表面が、ヌレ性40ダイン/
cmを保つように、該クロムメッキ面の清浄度を保護す
る手段と、 d.清浄なクロムメッキ面に、2液ポリエステル系の透
明チッピングプライマによって膜厚寸法10〜15μm
の透明プライマ塗膜を形成する工程と、 e.上記透明プライマ塗膜の上に、アクリルポリオール
系もしくはシリコンアクリル系の2液反応型クリヤー塗
料によって、膜厚寸法10〜15μmのクリアー塗膜を
形成する工程と、を具備しており、 かつ、上記2液反応型クリヤー塗料の中へ、あらかじめ
透明顔料を混和して、前記のクリヤー塗膜をカラークリ
ヤー塗膜ならしめることを特徴とする、カラークリヤー
塗膜の耐チッピング性向上方法。
