界の膜厚寸法下限と、上記4条件を総合的に研究した。
これら4つの特性は相互に関連しているので、その組合
せは非常に多種類である。例えば(イ)項の塗料の種類
が変わると、(ロ)項の塗装条件が変わり、(ハ),
(ニ)項の寸法限界も変わる。これらを無計画に片っ端
から試みていてはいくら時間が有っても足りず、多大の
研究費を要し、労多くして功少ない。本発明者は、表面
処理に関する多年の経験的知識の蓄積を科学的に解析し
て、実用効果の期待性が高い塗料を選別して試行錯誤の
範囲を絞り込み、効率的に試験研究を推進した結果、本
発明に係る方法に到達したのである。すなわち、この塗
膜の構成方法は、クロムメッキされた部材にクロムメッ
キ色以外の光輝発色を与えるとともに、外部からの衝撃
に耐える耐チッピング性を与えるカラークリヤー塗膜を
構成する方法であって、 a.クロムメッキ表面を水洗する工程と、 b.水洗されたクロムメッキ表面に水滴痕が残らないよ
うに乾燥させる工程と、 c.乾燥したクロムメッキ表面が、ヌレ性40ダイン/
cmを保つように、該クロムメッキ面の清浄度を保護する
手段と、 d.清浄なクロムメッキ面に、シリコン・アクリル系2
液反応型塗料によって、膜厚寸法15〜25μmのクリ
アー塗膜を構成する工程と、を具備しており、かつ、上
記のシリコン・アクリル系2液反応型塗料の中へ、あら
かじめ透明顔料を混和して、前記のクリヤー塗膜をカラ
ークリヤー塗膜ならしめることを特徴とする。ただし、
上記の内のc項の清浄度を保護する手段とは、要するに
b項の乾燥とd項の塗装との間でクロムメッキ面を汚さ
ないことであって、その保護手段が外見に現れることを
要しない。例えば、乾燥後、直ちに塗装を行なうなら
ば、この場合「汚損される機会を与えない」ということ
が保護の手段である。また、b項において水滴痕が残ら
ないように乾燥させるという条件は、水洗および乾燥に
おける清浄度の表現である。すなわち、水滴痕とは、こ
の場合、清浄水の蒸発残滓であって、肉眼で識別し得る
水滴痕の存在は清浄水の不純、もしくは乾燥雰囲気の塵
埃を示唆するものである。本発明が所期の目的を達成す
るためには、肉眼で感知し得る水滴痕を生じない程度の

む化合物を硬化剤とした塗料である。
