Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the generation and supply of noncharged toner in a development start stage and to prevent the occurrence of the scattering of toner in a device by rotating a developer supplying member in a position away from a developing roller before the development is started. CONSTITUTION: Control for separating a toner supplying/electrifying roller 7 from a developing roller 6 remaining stopping, before a developing operation is executed and starting the roller 7 rotating in an opposite direction before (especially, just before) the development is started is executed by a control mechanism. At this time, the developing roller 6 remains stopping so that the toner is never unnecessarily carried toward a photoreceptor. Further, the toner supplying/electrifying roller 7 is rotated in a toner puddle in a case, to electrify the toner of the surroundings and gather the charged toner in the vicinity of the developing roller 6. After the toner around the developing roller 6 is sufficiently charged, the control for abutting the toner supplying/electrifying roller 7 on the developing roller 6, to start a normal developing operation is executed.

2. Description of the Related Art Generally, in a developing device of a dry electrophotographic apparatus, a toner in a developing chamber is supplied to a developing roller by the action of an elastic roller which abuts against the developing roller, and the developing roller is further developed. The latent image is formed on the photoconductor by being supplied to the photoconductor by the action of the roller (the developing roller may be in contact with or not in contact with the photoconductor). Also,
Since the toner is conveyed by the electrostatic force in the developing device, when an uncharged toner is mixed in the toner in the developing chamber, the binding force to the developing roller is extremely reduced, and the toner is extremely weak. Are scattered in the air at the blade and the developing nip portion and stain the apparatus, which in turn greatly affects the image quality.

In the conventional developing device,
Since the toner is charged in the vicinity of the contact point between the elastic roller and the developing roller, a toner which is not sufficiently charged is liable to be generated, especially at the start-up of development. However, there is a drawback that toner is scattered into the apparatus.

The configuration shown in FIG. 6 is a simplified version of the configuration shown in FIG. In the embodiment of FIG. 6, a part (for example, a shaft portion) of the toner supplying charging roller 7 is sandwiched by the leaf spring 14 and the fixed wall 13, and one part of the toner supplying charging roller 7 is provided. The portion is pressed against the fixed wall 13 by the biasing force of the leaf spring 14. In this case, if the frictional force with the leaf spring 14 is made smaller than the frictional force with the fixed wall 13, the toner supply charging roller 7 can be operated as shown in FIG.
The same operation as that of the fourth embodiment in FIG. At this time,
Developing roller 6, plate-shaped charging promoting member 8, charging promoting roller
It is the frictional force between the part of the toner-supplied charging roller 7, the spring 14 and the fixed wall 13 that determines the crimping force against the roller 9. If this frictional force is adjusted appropriately. Good and simple mechanism.
