の層を被覆せしめられている。 前記加熱ローラと前記加圧ローラとは互いに接触せしめ
られており、加熱ローラをモータ等の駆動源で駆動する
ことにより、加圧ローラも従動回転するようになってい
る。又、好ましい定着温度を得るため加熱ローラの表面
温度を検知して制御する温度制御器が備えられている。 従来このような定着装置においては、始動時の電源投入
後のウオームアップ期間中は、双方のローラは停止状態
すなわち非回転状態に保たれるようにしたものが多い。
しかし、このような状態は以下に述べるような欠点を有
するものである。 すなわち、加圧ローラはウオームアップ中には非回転状
態で加熱ローラと接触しているので接触部に限っては温
度が上昇するものの、加圧ローラ自体の熱容量が大きく
熱伝導度が悪いため該加圧ローラの他の部分は昇温せず

厚紙や特殊紙の定着の際の第2の設定温度への切り替え
を必要として、切り替えのボタンをおせば必ず加圧ロー
ラ12の加熱ローラ11との従動回転が行われ、高温定着の
ための好ましい定着温度に昇温せしめられるように制御
される。 第2図は本発明の定着装置における高温定着時の加熱ロ
ーラ11と加圧ローラ12との表面温度と時間の関係を示

同時に行い高温定着の好適温度を実現出来るようにした
ので、その結果定着不良の減少に顕著な効果を有する定
着装置が提供されることとなった。

間に搬送される記録紙の材質によって加熱温度を制御す
るようにした定着装置において、 加熱ローラの表面温度を第1の設定温度と第2の設定温
度の二段階に設定制御する制御回路を設け、通常は第1
の設定温度に維持され、前記加熱ローラと加圧ローラと
の間に挿入される記録紙の材質の変更指示があったと
き、前記加熱ローラに加圧ローラを接触させ、加圧ロー
ラを従動回転させて加熱し、一定時間経過後、加熱ロー
ラの表面温度を高めの第2の設定温度にして前記記録紙
を定着することを特徴とする定着装置。
