繊維、あるいはポリプロピレン繊維等の望ましくは融点
が100〜150℃の範囲の低融点繊維が10〜70重
量%、望ましくは30〜60重量%の範囲で含まれる。
該低融点繊維の含有量が10重量%未満の場合は熱成形
性が充分でなく、70重量%を越えると耐熱性が問題と
なる。上記不織布は上記繊維を合成樹脂バインダーで結
着したり、ニードルパンチング等によって絡合したり、
あるいは上記低融点繊維を含む場合には該低融点繊維の
軟化点以上の温度に加熱して低融点繊維を軟化させて繊
維を結着したりすることによって製造される。本発明に
おいては上記不織布は通常100g/m2 〜2000g
/m2 の重量とされるが、所望によって部分的に厚みを
変化させることも可能である。該不織布にはアクリル樹
脂、酢酸ビニル樹脂、スチレン樹脂、ウレタン樹脂、メ
ラミン樹脂、尿素樹脂、フェノール樹脂等の合成樹脂、
あるいは上記合成樹脂のモノマー、プレポリマー、オリ
ゴマー等の前駆体が含浸されてもよいし、ポリエチレン
フィルム、ポリプロピレンフィルム、ポリエステルフィ
ルム等のプラスチックフィルムが積層されてもよい。更
に上記不織布は着色あるいはエンボスされてもよく、表
面材にこのような不織布を用いれば表層材が不要とな
る。
