Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a fashionable escalator by employing liquid crystal glass for balustrades, keeping it as transparent glass bodies in normal operation, and electrifying the liquid crystal glass in a specified time zone for frosting it like frosted glass to provide zig-zag patterns. CONSTITUTION:Transparent glass bodies 3A, 3B as balustrade parts of an escalator are operated in no color normally, and as an illumination change-over switch is switched on when people get crowded, or in a specified time zone, contacts LA1, LA2 are energized to electrify the transparent glass bodies 3A, 3B as the balustrade parts, so the whole body of the non-colored transparent glass of the balustrade parts of the escalator is changed to be like frosted glass. By thus changing by the illumination change-over switch, design effect of the escalator can be improved.
