In the transfer belt device of this type, as is well known, it is necessary to clean or replace the transfer belt 1 in a predetermined cycle. To replace the transfer belt 1, first, as shown in FIG. 8A, the transfer / transport belt unit 10 is removed. Hold the knob 11 of the belt unit 10 and remove the transfer bias terminal 12 and the connectors 14 and 15 of the ground plate terminal 13. Stand the belt unit 10 at 90 ° and pull it up. Next, as shown in FIG. 8 (b), the front and rear two fixing screws 16 and 17 of the drive roller 2 are removed. Then, as shown in FIG. 8C, the shaft of the drive roller 2 is bent so that the upper side of the belt unit 10 is inward. The transfer belt 1 is pulled out while avoiding the transfer bias terminal 12. Assemble in the reverse order.

Therefore, in the transfer belt bias applying and earthing mechanism in the conventional transfer belt device, the connector 1 is removed every time the frame 6 is removed from the casing 8.
Since the harness 18 must be removed by pulling out 4, 15 (or the set screw), and the harness 18 must be connected each time when setting, the workability when exchanging the transfer belt 1 is improved. Poorly, there is a problem that the connection between the power supply 7 and the bias roller 4 or the ground plate 5 is apt to be forgotten or a connection error is likely to occur.
