Abstract

PURPOSE:To get an interior air temperature distribution of 'keeping one's head cool and feet warm' without damaging appearance of a room by a method wherein a floor panel arranged at an upper surface of a main body is installed at an under-floor region of a housing in such a way that the panel may be in flush with the floor surface of the housing. CONSTITUTION:A floor panel 4 is arranged on an upper surface of a main body 1 in which an indoor air processing device 2 and an open air processing device 3 are integrally assembled from each other. Then, a floor surface panel 4 of the main body 1 is installed at an under-floor location of a housing in such a way that the floor panel 4 of the main body 1 may be in flush with the floor surface of a housing. Due to this arrangement, the air conditioner may not be seen by a person. Indoor air is sucked into the indoor air processing device 2 through an indoor air suction port 14 arranged at the floor panel 4, the indoor air is biased by an indoor fan 6 and heat exchanged with refrigerant when the air passes through an indoor air processing and heat exchanging device 2, thereby the air is heated or cooled. After this operation, the air is blown into a room through an indoor air blowing port 15 arranged at the floor panel 4. In turn, the open air is sucked through an open air blowing port 16 into the open air processing device 3, absorbs heat from the refrigerant when the air is biased by an outdoor fan 11 and passes through an outdoor heat exchanger 9, thereafter the air is discharged out of an open air blowing-out port 17.

During the cooling operation, the refrigerant discharged from the compressor 13 enters the outdoor air heat exchanger 9 through a four-way valve (not shown),
Here, the air is condensed and liquefied by exchanging heat with the outside air blown by the outdoor fan 11. The liquid refrigerant enters the indoor air heat exchanger 4 via an expansion valve (not shown), evaporates by exchanging heat with the indoor air blown by the indoor fan 6, and then returns to the compressor 13 via the four-way valve.

According to the present invention, since the main body of the air conditioner is installed under the floor of a house, it cannot be seen by people except the floor panel. Therefore, the space under the floor can be effectively utilized and the installation space inside and outside the air conditioner can be saved. Since the indoor unit, the outdoor unit, and the refrigerant pipes and electric wires that connect them to each other unlike the conventional ones are not exposed to the inside wall of the room and the outside of the house, their aesthetics can be improved.

Further, during the heating operation of the air conditioner, warm air is blown into the room from the air outlet of the floor panel, so that the room temperature near the floor can be easily raised, and therefore the temperature distribution in the room can be increased. It is possible to give a comfortable air-conditioning feeling to the occupants of the room by using as a cold head heat.
