Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a hair growth agent, comprising an acetophenone derivative and having excellent promoting effects on hair production and high safety and a cosmetic for hair of the head containing the hair growth agent therein. CONSTITUTION:This hair growth agent is obtained by using one of acetophenone derivatives expressed by the formula (R is a short-chain alkyl) (e.g. 4'- hydroxyacetophenone) alone or as a mixture of two or more thereof. This cosmetic for hair of the head is prepared by comprising the hair growth agent as an active ingredient in an amount of 0.0001-10wt.% based on the total amount of the cosmetic. The cosmetic can be applied to a form such as a hair tonic, a shampoo, a rinse, a pomade, a hair lotion, a hair cream or a hair treatment and is effective in improving the baldness and thin hair and continuously and safely usable for a long period.
