【発明の詳細な説明】 〔技術分野〕 本発明は、液晶の電気光学効果を利用したカラー画像表
示素子やもしくはその他のカラーキヤラクター及びカラ
ー画像表示用セルに用いられるカラーフイルターの構造
に関するものである。

従来のカラー画像表示用セルに組み合わされるカラーフ
イルターは、第1図の(a)部、つまり画像もしくはキ
ヤラクター表示に用いられる部分だけのカラー要素しか
形成されていない構造になつていた。このため、カラー
画像表示の耐光、耐熱等の品質評価試験を行う場合に
は、(1)(2)(3)それぞれの要素の色差値変化を
測定する必要があつた。この場合カラー要素(1)
(2)(3)の外形寸法が200μm角よりも小さくなる
と、非常に高価な測定器を使用しない限り、正確な色差
値の変化を測定することが出来なくなるという不都合が
ある。またこのような測定器は測定までの準備がたんへ
んであり、測定器も簡単に誰でも扱えるものではないた
め、多量数の測定物がある場合などには入手と時間がた
いへんにかかつた。

ーフィルターとからなり、前記カラーフィルターは、透

ものであり、かつ、前記色要素は、前記透明基材上の前
記液晶パネルの画像表示領域に対応した部分に配置され
てなるカラー液晶表示装置において、前記色要素は、前
記透明基材上の前記画像表示領域に対応しない部分にも
配置されることにより、従来はカラーフイルターの色彩
測定には、精密検微鏡付きの色彩計(例えばオリンパス
(株)のMMSP)を使つており、装置が大型で操作に時間
がかかつていたが、持ち運びの出来る色彩計(例えばト
プコンBM−5)を使用出来るようになつた。これによ
り、カラーフイルターの耐光・耐熱等の品質試験の色彩
測定に費やしていた時間が大巾に短縮出来きコストダウ
ンとなつた。
