Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the prevention of contamination by a pathogen in a clinic and cross infection between a patient and an operator. CONSTITUTION:A handpiece 1 is provided internally with a drive air circuit 2, an exhaust circuit 3, a chip air circuit 4 and a water circuit 5. A check valve 7 whose tip is made up of an elastic member is mounted in the exhaust circuit 3 at a head part 6 of the handpiece 1. With such an arrangement, reversion is blocked to a hose mounted on a dental handpiece 1 and a dental treatment machine connected to the hose involved. Contamination from a pathogen or the like as caused by sucking action is checked within the dental handpiece even in the worst case and the dental handpiece is sterilized thereby enabling the prevention of contamination in the clinic and cross infection between a patient and an operator.
