出力するに至った原因が、本当に侵入者によるものなの
か、あるいは、その他のノイズ等の影響による検知装置
自体の誤動作なのかは判別することは不可能であった。
屋外に設置した防犯用の赤外線式検知装置の場合を例に
とると、検知信号が発せられるのは、侵入者が通過した
時の他に、鳥や風によって飛ばされて来た落葉や、紙片
が近赤外線をしゃ断した時などいろいろな場合が想定さ
れる。これら侵入者以外の物体の検出動作も赤外線式検
知装置の基本動作からすれば正常であると言えるが、実
際は単なる誤動作と判断されてしまい、その検知動作の
原因を明確にすることが望まれていた。これらの検知装
置の不備を補うために、検知装置の近くに併設したテレ
ビカメラと、映像信号を伝送する専用ケーブルと、映像
再生用モニターとを用いて、検知信号が発せられた時の
映像を遠隔地で確認する方法がとられていた。
