The web-fed rotary printing machine is equipped with a folder that cuts a web, which is dried and cooled after printing, into predetermined lengths and folds the web half-widthwise or longitudinally. Folding is performed by this folding machine in such a manner that the web before cutting is half-folded in the width direction with a foamer, and the signature after cutting is folded in half in the length direction with an origami cylinder or in parallel 4 There are two-fold folding or parallel folding, and a folding method in which a folded signature is folded in half in the orthogonal direction with a fastener. These folding methods are selected according to the specifications of the signature and used independently. , Some of them are combined.

The folding device of each of the above folding devices is a plate-shaped folding blade that moves the signature being conveyed with tape to the paper rest to stop it, and then descends vertically toward the center of the stopped signature. The signature is folded halfway by folding it from the center into the space between the rollers below, and because of its structure, it is impossible to increase the speed beyond a certain speed, and the upper limit speed is restricted. Therefore, conventionally, when using a chipping device, it is unavoidable that the speed of the entire printing machine including the printing device and the paper discharge device must be reduced. It was hindered.

Therefore, conventionally, for example, as disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 55-13341, two sets of signature conveying means and discharge means are provided, and high speed printing and parallel folding signatures are alternately fed to each series. It has been proposed to fold the paper at a low speed and then eject the paper. However, in this device, a pair of upper and lower speed reduction cylinders are brought into contact with a double-diameter gripping cylinder, and the signatures from the gripping cylinders are sent to the upper and lower folding paths while decelerating with the respective reduction cylinders. In addition, since the paper edge side of the signature is held by the gripping cylinder and the speed reducing cylinder with different speeds even after the claws of the speed reducing cylinder are opened and the gripping edge of the signature is released, the transport of the signature is unstable. As a result, the folding accuracy of the next step is reduced and the signature is clogged at the time of the next step, and the printing operation must be interrupted.

As described above, in the parallel fold shown in FIG. 2 in which two sheets are not overlapped, when the web 4 which has been subjected to the forma fold is supplied to the origami cylinder, it is cut once every half rotation of the needle cylinder 7. After being folded in parallel between the folding cylinder 12 and the holding cylinder 16 and being decelerated when passed from the holding cylinder 16 to the speed reduction cylinder 19,
Upper and lower transport tapes 28, 30 via both transfer cylinders 23, 25
Alternately discharged upwards. As a result, a signature of 8 pages is formed by the format folding and the parallel folding. Therefore, when the signature is conveyed to the stapler device, folded in the orthogonal direction and discharged, a signature of 16 pages is obtained.

Further, in the two-fold parallel folding shown in FIG. 3, when the web 4 which has been subjected to the form folding is supplied to the origami cylinder, the needle cylinder 7
When the needle cylinder 7 is passed from the gripper cylinder 16 to the speed reduction cylinder 19 after being cut once every 1/2 rotation of the It is decelerated and discharged onto the lower transfer tape 30 via the lower transfer drum 25. As a result, 16 folds can be performed with the fuma fold, double fold and parallel fold.
Since it becomes a page signature, when this is conveyed to the stapler apparatus, folded in the orthogonal direction and then discharged, a signature of 32 pages can be obtained. And from parallel folds that do not overlap 2
In the case of switching to the parallel folding of the stack of sheets, the cylinder arrangement is left as it is, and only a part of the jaws and the jaws need not be operated, and the switching operation is easy.

Then, in the non-overlapping parallel folding shown in FIG. 2 and the following folding, the peripheral speeds of the reduction cylinder 19 and the transfer cylinders 23 and 25 are different from the peripheral speeds of the cutting cylinder 6 to the gripping cylinder 16. Since it is decelerated and the supply speed to the chaper device is also decelerated, even if the speed from the cutting cylinder 6 to the gripper cylinder 16 is increased to match the printing speed, the speed is supplied to the chaper device at a slower speed. As a result, the folding accuracy of the folding is maintained, and since the signature discharge amount after the folding is the total discharge amount from the upper and lower chat devices, the production amount corresponding to the printing speed can be secured.

As is clear from the above description, according to the present invention, in the folding machine of the rotary web printing press, the folding cylinder that is in contact with the folding cylinder and has the needle and the insertion blade, and the folding cylinder that is in contact with the folding cylinderゞ
A holding cylinder having a holding plate having a diameter of 1 / 1.5 and facing the insertion blade, and a reduction cylinder provided with a holding claw which is in contact with the holding cylinder and rotates at a lower peripheral speed than this. By providing a pair of upper and lower transfer cylinders facing each other on the peripheral surface of the speed reducer and having a jaw, the signature folded in parallel with the folding cylinder and the clamp cylinder is passed to the speed reducer to reduce the speed. By configuring it so that it is distributed to the transfer cylinders alternately, if a checker device is installed in the transport path of the signatures discharged from the upper and lower transfer cylinders, the parallel folding speed and the folding capacity for high speed printing can be obtained. Since the signature supply speed to the held stapler device can be reduced to a low speed, the printing speed can be increased, the productivity is improved, and the folding accuracy of the stapler device is improved. In addition, when the transport speed of the signature is reduced, the signature is firmly clamped by the jaws, and the tail of the signature is released when the paper is discharged from the transfer cylinder, so the signature will not bend. In addition to improving the folding accuracy, it is possible to distribute different patterns up and down considering the imposition of the plate, which facilitates the post-process and improves the workability.

Further, it is possible to switch to the two-fold parallel folding by a simple operation, and the operability is improved, and since the cutting of the signature and the double-folding are separately performed at different positions, a high cutting precision can be obtained. .
