Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a transparent touch panel with high light transmissivity and superior visibility. CONSTITUTION:A hard coating layer 1 is formed on the upper plane of polyethylene terephthalate film as movable electrode side film 2, and a material on which an ITO layer that forms a movable electrode 3 is formed on the lower plane is used. Also, the ITO layer which forms a fixed electrode 6 is formed on the upper plane of the polyethylene terephthalate film, and a material in which an adhesive layer 8 is formed on the lower plane by coating with an acrylic transparent adhesive and releasing film is adhered on the layer is used. Thence, a spacer 4 is formed on the fixed electrode 6, and both film 2, 7 are adhered with each other with a peripheral adhesive layer 5. While, a polycarbonate plate is prepared as a supporting substrate 9, and alignment with the supporting substrate 9 is performed by peeling the releasing film of the fixed electrode side film 7, then, the touch panel can be obtained by adhering the polycarbonate plate on the whole plane.

In the transparent touch panel having such a structure, the light transmittance of the entire transparent touch panel is determined by the light transmittance of both electrode films and the supporting substrate. Since there are layers, the light transmittance of the entire transparent touch panel becomes extremely small due to the difference in refractive index between each member and the air layer.

The movable electrode side film 2 has a thickness of 125 μm.
The polyethylene terephthalate film having the hard coat layer 1 formed on the upper surface and the ITO layer serving as the movable electrode 3 formed on the lower surface was used. Further, as the fixed electrode side film 7, an ITO layer which becomes the fixed electrode 6 is formed on the upper surface of a polyethylene terephthalate film having a thickness of 100 μm, and an acrylic transparent adhesive is applied on the lower surface by a roll coater to form an adhesive layer 8. Then, a product having a release film attached thereon was used.

Using these two electrode films 2.7,
A spacer 4 was formed and both electrode films 2 and 7 were bonded together with a peripheral edge adhesive layer 5 according to a usual method for manufacturing a transparent touch panel. On the other hand, a polycarbonate plate having the same size as both electrode films 2 and 7 and having a thickness of 1 mm is prepared as a supporting substrate 9, and the release film of the fixed electrode side film 7 is peeled off to align with the supporting substrate 9 and under vacuum. The transparent touch panel of FIG. 1 was obtained by sticking on the entire surface.

Therefore, since the air layer is eliminated as much as possible in the layer structure of the transparent touch panel, the light transmittance of the touch panel is large. In addition, the transparent touch panel has a display such as an LCD or an IC with an image.
When set on a card or the like, the visibility of the lower image through the transparent touch panel is high. Further, the adhesive layer has a cushioning effect against various mechanical stimuli received by the input, and the durability of the movable electrode and the fixed electrode is also improved.
