PURPOSE:To prevent air pollution by improving complete combustion and higher heat efficiency by a method wherein a shutter chamber is provided at an outlet of a furnace and a shutter having numerous pores and a hoisting mechanism is mounted to form secondary combustion furnaces in a plurality of sets at a waste incinerator. CONSTITUTION:A shutter chamber 5 is provided at an outlet of a secondary incinerator 4, for example, in front of a stack thereof. A shutter to be inserted into the shutter chamber 5 is made of a refractory material and is made up of numerous pores as catalyst for promoting complete combustion and a hoisting mechanism. The shutter is mounted free to move into or out of the shutter chamber 5 to form a plurality of secondary combustion furnaces 4 successively. A burner mounting port 12 is provided facing a furnace wall right in front of the shutter chamber 5 and a burner 10 and a blower 11 for secondary air are mounted respectively. The burner and the blower are arranged separately one above the other, for instance, so that flames being jetted into the secondary incinerator 4 will not face each other.
