Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a cable erroneous connection detecting device capable of instantaneously detecting erroneous connection and preventing a connected apparatus from being damaged. CONSTITUTION:A cable erroneous connection detecting device detects the erroneous connection of a cable 4 when the connector 3 of a cable terminal is connected to the interface 2 of an electronic apparatus 1 side. The fixed logical signal generating circuit 5 of the electronic apparatus 1 side generates multiple different fixed logical signals and guides them to the prescribed terminals of the interface 2 respectively. The connector 3 side receives multiple fixed logical signals when it is connected to the interface 2, generates an ID signal indicating the type of the cable via the optional combination, and sends it back to the interface 2. The compatibility judging circuit 6 of the electronic apparatus 1 side collates the ID signal inputted through the interface 2 with the ID registered in advance and judges whether the connection between the cable 4 and the interface 2 is compatible or not.
