2. Description of the Related Art As a steel oil ring of this type, there have been conventionally known, for example, JP-A-61-45172 and JP-A-4-7.
I of the structure shown in FIG.
The shaped steel oil ring wire 1 is used as shown in FIGS. 4 (A) and 4 (B). This steel oil ring is composed of upper and lower side rails 11 and 12, and a thin web 13 connecting these side rails, and has a substantially I-shaped cross section. An outer peripheral groove 14 for receiving the scraped oil is formed outside the side rails and the thin web 13. On the other hand, the coil expander 20 is provided on the inner peripheral side of them.
An inner circumferential groove 15 for inserting the is formed. The shape of the left and right side rails is completely different because they work differently. The thin web 13 has a large number of elongated oil holes 16 for allowing the scraped oil to escape from the outer peripheral groove 14 to the inner peripheral groove 15. The oil collected in the inner circumferential groove 15 of the oil ring is introduced into the piston through an oil drain (not shown) provided in the piston ring groove, and finally returned to the oil pan of the engine.

In order to process a round bar into a substantially I-shaped cross section, an upper and lower roll die contacting the upper and lower surfaces and a side roll die having a shape approximately matching the shape of the left and right trapezoidal spaces are used. It is also formed by rolling using steps (not shown). After that, as shown in FIG. 2, cold punching is performed on the thin web 13 with a punch 22 and a die 21 to form an oil hole 16. In this punching process, there are major problems that the shape of the oil hole is not stable and the life of the die used for the punching process is extremely short. Therefore, the quality of the I-shaped oil ring is not stable, and the productivity of the I-shaped oil ring is not improved.

Particularly recently, 13Cr has been used as a wire rod for an I-shaped steel oil ring for the purpose of improving the wear resistance of the oil ring.
Materials obtained by nitriding high Cr stainless steel such as steel and 17Cr steel have been used. With these materials,
In punching the oil hole, the resistance to the punch is large, the shape of the die hole becomes unstable, and the life of the die becomes 1/5 to 1/10 of that of the conventional carbon steel. An object of the present invention is to solve the above problems and to provide a method for manufacturing a wire rod for an I-shaped steel oil ring capable of stably processing the shape of an oil hole.

The inventor of the present invention is responsible for the above problems because the material has a high hardness and the width of the workpiece supporting portion 23 of the die in punching is very small (usually 0). It was confirmed that it was about 0.4 mm).
However, the reason why the width of the workpiece support portion 23 of the die is small is due to the shape of the I-shaped steel oil ring and cannot be improved. In addition, it is impossible to change the material because the required quality is not satisfied. Therefore, the present invention solves the above-mentioned problems by heating and softening the wire rod for I-shaped oil ring to make it easy to work only when punching.

That is, according to the present invention, in a method for manufacturing a wire rod for a steel oil ring having a substantially I-shaped section in which upper and lower side rails and a thin web connecting the both side rails are integrated, a plastic material having a substantially I-shaped section is formed. After processing, 500 ℃ ~ 700
It is characterized in that an oil hole is punched in a thin web in a state of being heated to ℃, and then quenching and tempering treatment is performed.

According to the present invention having the above-mentioned structure, since the oil hole wire rod for I-shaped steel is punched in an oil hole in a warm state, the resistance force against the punch is reduced, and the width of the workpiece supporting portion of the die is reduced. Even if the size is small, it is possible to stably machine an oil hole with accurate dimensional accuracy. In addition, the life of the die can be greatly extended.

The reason why the heating temperature is set to 500 ° C. to 700 ° C. is that if the temperature is lower than 500 ° C., the resistance to the punch does not decrease as much as it affects the life of the punch, and if the temperature is higher than 700 ° C., the I-shaped steel oil ring itself. This is because thermal strain occurs.

EXAMPLES The method for producing the wire rod for an I-shaped steel oil ring according to the present invention will be specifically described below with reference to examples. First, FIG. 3 shows a cross-sectional view (however, the oil hole is not processed) of a wire rod for an I-shaped steel oil ring (high Cr stainless steel S
It was manufactured by repeating the rolling process more than ten times from US440B). In FIG. 3, the dimensions are B = 3.0 mm, T
= 2.0 mm, t = 0.5 mm, b = 0.2 mm, x =
0.8 mm and y = 0.95 mm. This I-shaped steel oil ring wire 1 was heated to 630 ° C. under the conditions of an oscillation frequency of 350 KHz, an oscillation output of 30 kw and a feed speed of 1 m / min by an induction heating device 25 shown in FIG. An oil hole was punched by a press 31 equipped with an alloy die. The size of the oil hole is w
= 0.6 mm, l = 3.0 mm, p = 8.0 mm.

Since the oil holes are punched out while being heated to 600 ° C. or higher, the load on the die 21 made of cemented carbide is greatly reduced. As a result, die wear is reduced,
The accuracy of the oil hole is improved. Table 1 shows a comparison of die wear between carbon steel and stainless steel when the oil holes were punched in the conventional cold state and when punched by the method of the present invention.

As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to easily and stably punch an oil hole by a simple manufacturing method, and the die wear amount is about 1 / n that of a conventional carbon steel material. 10 and about 1/20 in stainless steel. Therefore, the workability of oil hole processing is significantly improved,
The accuracy of the shape of the oil hole has also improved, making it possible to improve the quality of the oil ring and reduce costs.
