2. Description of the Related Art On the floor, exercise equipment is commercially available which supports the rear wheels of a bicycle and allows a user to rotate a pedal to obtain the same effect as in an actual bicycle race. This exercise equipment is equipped with a device that applies load resistance to the rear wheel according to the rotational speed of the rear wheel of the bicycle. As another load applying device, there has been proposed a brake device which automatically adjusts frictional resistance due to contact between a disc provided on a shaft driven by a rear wheel of a bicycle and a brake applying member. ing. In this brake device, since frictional resistance due to contact is used as a load, the contact portion is worn and the load resistance is reduced. Therefore, there is a lack of accuracy in automatically adjusting the load. further,
It was necessary to replace the worn load means at an early stage, and maintenance work was extremely complicated.

In order to solve such a problem, exercise equipment provided with a magnetic load applying device has been proposed. As shown in FIG. 8, in this load applying device, a metallic rotating plate 60 is fixed to one end of a rotating shaft that supports a bicycle, and a pair of discs 61 that face each other with the rotating plate 60 interposed therebetween have a predetermined interval. A group of permanent magnets 62 arranged in an annular shape is arranged. Then, the magnetic flux from the facing magnet 62 and the rotating plate 60
Eddy current is generated by the rotational movement of. The load generated on the rotary plate 60 by this eddy current is transmitted to the rear wheel of the bicycle via the rotary shaft 63. The load is adjusted by rotating the permanent magnet 62 by adjusting the knob and changing the amount of magnetic flux that generates an eddy current. According to this magnetic load applying device, the load can be obtained in a non-contact manner, so that the noise is small. In addition, there is no wear and maintenance is easy. Further, the load can be easily adjusted.

However, in the above load applying device, since the circular magnets are arranged at a predetermined interval, the group of circular permanent magnets arranged on one side of the rotary plate and the rotary plate. It is possible that one magnet group opposes the other permanent magnet group without being aligned with the circular permanent magnet group on the opposite side. The change in the amount of magnetic flux at this time is not linear, and the amount of magnetic flux changes non-linearly as shown in FIG. 9 with respect to the rotational movement amount of the knob. Therefore, the change of the magnetic flux is large and the change of the load is large with respect to a small movement of the load adjusting knob. Also, due to the non-linear characteristics, it is not easy to adjust to the load desired by the driver.

Next, the operation of the indoor exercise equipment constructed as described above will be described. In this indoor exercise equipment, when the pedal 52 of the bicycle 50 is rotationally operated, the driving force of the rear wheel 51 is transmitted to the rotary shaft 16 via the drive cylinder 19. With the rotation of the rotary shaft 16, the flywheel 21 and the rotary plate 24 at both ends are integrally rotated. At this time,
An eddy current is generated on the rotary plate 24 by the permanent magnet groups 28 and 32 arranged with the rotary plate 24 interposed therebetween, and resistance is imparted to the rotation. Therefore, a load is applied to the rotation operation of the pedal 52. Rotational resistance of the pedal 52 is controlled by operating the adjusting knob 33 so that the fixed and movable permanent magnets 28,
It is adjustable by changing the facing positional relationship of 32.

More specifically, at the "L" position of the scale 38 shown in FIG. 6A, the movable permanent magnet 32 is located.
Are arranged so that the same poles face each other with respect to the fixed permanent magnet 28, so that the magnetic flux passing through the rotary plate 24 is almost zero. Eddy current is magnetic flux and rotating plate 24
Is generated by the rotational movement of the rotary plate 24, and a load is generated in a direction that hinders the rotation of the rotary plate 24. Therefore, if the magnetic flux is zero, no eddy current is generated and no load is generated. On the other hand, FIG.
In the “H” position of the graduation 38 shown in (c), the movable permanent magnet 32 is arranged with the different poles facing each other with respect to the fixed permanent magnet 28, so that the magnetic flux increases. Then the load increases. The position of the movable permanent magnet 32 with respect to the fixed permanent magnet 28 is the circumferential direction from the state where the same poles face each other, and the intermediate state between “H” and “L” of the scale 38 shown in FIG. 6B. , Are continuously displaced to the opposite states of different polarities. Then, the magnetic flux increases linearly,
The eddy current also increases linearly. Therefore, the adjustment knob 3
The load changes linearly as shown in FIG.

As described above, in the resistance imparting device of this embodiment, the load changes linearly with the amount of rotation of the adjusting knob 33, so it is desirable to rotate the adjusting knob 33 according to the scale 38. Adjustments to the load can be made easily.

The present invention is not limited to the configuration of the above-described embodiment. For example, the permanent magnets 28 and 32 arranged on the circumference may be circular permanent magnets instead of arc-shaped permanent magnets. It is also possible to embody it by arbitrarily changing it within a range that does not depart from the spirit of the present invention, such as arranging continuously in a ring shape without breaks.
