Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure temperature stably even in high temperature atmosphere by providing a concentric cooling pipe, to be inserted with a thermometer, with cooling means for feeding cooling medium. CONSTITUTION:A cooling pipe 1 has a base part coupled with a base body 3 having a flange part 3a. Cooling medium, e.g. water or gas, is introduced through an introduction port 31 of the base body 3 into a third pipe 13 thence returned through a communicating part 14 and a second pipe 12 to the base body 3 side where it is discharged through a discharge port 32 thus cooling a thermometer 4 inserted into a first pipe 11. An optical or electrical signal is delivered from the base part 40 of the thermometer 4. Since the thermometer 4 is cooled through a cooling unit including the cooling pipe 1 and further cooled through a heat transmission pipe 2 having high thermal conductivity being provided as required, the thermometer 4 comprising an optical fiber or the like is not heated but cooled sufficiently. This constitution protects the coating of optical fiber against evaporation or damage while removing stray light from the intermediate part thus allowing stabilized temperature measurement with reduced error.

When such an optical fiber thermometer or contact type thermometer is used in a high temperature atmosphere, devitrification phenomenon occurs in which the optical fiber becomes opaque and becomes brittle, or the insulating agent in the sheath is broken. There is a risk that the insulation resistance will decrease and a leak phenomenon will occur, leading to measurement errors, and there is a limit to heat resistance, etc., and cooling is necessary.

In the figure, reference numeral 1 is a cooling tube, and a thermometer (temperature sensor) 4 such as a fiber thermometer or a sheath thermocouple covered with a metal tube or the like at the center is inserted and positioned inside.
Tube (inner tube) 11, a second tube (middle tube) 12 concentrically provided on the outer circumference of the first tube, and a third tube concentrically provided on the outer circumference of the second tube. It consists of a tube (outer tube) 13 and has a first
The tip of the tube 11 is open, and the second and third tubes 12,
The tip of 13 is closed and communicates with each other through a communicating portion 14. Further, the heat transfer tube 2 is provided on the tip side, and the tip of the thermometer 4 inserted into the first tube 11 is the tip of the heat transfer tube 2. And the light is collected or temperature is measured. For example, the outer diameter of the third pipe 13 of the cooling pipe can be reduced to 3.6 mm, the inner diameter of the first pipe 11 can be reduced to 1.2 mm, and the outer diameter of the thermometer 4 can be reduced to 1 mm.
The thermometer 4 can be inserted and removed freely and is easy to handle.
