非常に大きくなる傾向にある。

なるマウスピースを作成することを特徴とするマ
ウスピースの製造方法を提供せんとするものであ

本発明の詳細を更に実施例にもとづき説明す
る。即ち、本発明にかかるマウスピースの製造方
法は、まず一端から他端にかけ厚みを厚く設定し
てる熱可塑性弾性シート材を用い、この弾性シー
ト材を加熱して軟化状態のもとで用いることを前
提としている。ここに、熱可塑性弾性シート材と
しては、例えばエチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体、
低密度ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、塩化ビニ
ル、フツ素樹脂等が用いられるが酢酸ビニルを含
有するエチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体樹脂を用い
ることが好ましいといえる。とりわけ、酢酸ビニ
ルの含有量が12〜33重量%含有せしめたエチレン
−酢酸ビニル共重合体樹脂は、その成形性、柔軟
性並びに弾力性の点において成形されたマウスピ
ースは着用者に好ましい特性を与えるものであ
る。即ち、酢酸ビニルをエチレン−酢酸ビニル共
重合体に含有せしめることにより、このエチレン
−酢酸ビニル共重合体の軟化点を低下させ、成形
性を良好にし、且つ柔軟性を与え、その添加量に
よりエチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体の持つ弾力性
を維持して全体として成形性、柔軟性、弾力性の
点で好ましいマウスピース成形用材料が提供され
るのである。そして本発明におけるマウスピース
の製造方法においては、これら熱可塑性弾性シー
ト材を、例えば第1図〜第3図で示す如きシート
片に成形しておき、このシート片を加熱して軟化
状態のもとで、次工程の成形をなしてマウスピー
スを得るものである。第1図の熱可塑性弾性シー
ト材1は図例の如く、一端2から他端3に向つて
直線的に、その厚みが厚くされたものであり、第
2図の弾性シート材4はその表面5を曲線的に厚
くし、又第3図の弾性シート材6は、階段状7に
厚く設定したものである。即ち、これらの第1図
〜第3図で例示された弾性シート材1,4,6
は、それぞれ一端から他端にかけて厚みを厚く設
定してなる状態のもので、この弾性シート材1,
4,6の厚肉側を前歯部位置に、又薄肉側を臼歯
部位置に設定してマウスピース着用者の歯牙印象
模型を用いて真空成形等で、その歯牙形状を転写
成形することにより、前歯部位置を臼歯部位置よ
り厚く設定してなるマウスピースを得ることがで
きるのである。このようなマウスピースの製造方
法により、前記の如き、前歯部側を厚く、また臼
歯部側を薄く設定したマウスピースが簡易且つ迅
速に成形しうるものである。そしてその弾性シー
ト材として、酢酸ビニルを12〜33重量%含有せし
めた低軟化点のエチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体樹
脂を用いることにより、特定使用者専用のマウス
ピースを作成する際の、成形性を良好にすること
ができるとともに成形されたマウスピースに適切
な柔軟性と弾力性を与えることもできるものであ
る。

を変化させた材料を用いることになり、その製造
が容易化され且つ上下歯牙間の間隔を正確に転写
させた使用感良好で歯牙並びに口中の保護を完全
になすマウスピースの製造方法が提供されるので
ある。
