Conventional films, etc., in which the overlapping end surfaces of bound objects are adhered to the inner surface of the spine of the cover, are mainly manufactured by bonding both sides with an adhesive. This requires an adhesive, and when the cover or the bound material is made of a thermoplastic resin such as polypropylene, there is a problem in that it is difficult to find an inexpensive adhesive with excellent adhesive strength.

Therefore, in cases where the cover and the bound objects are made of the same type of thermoplastic resin, a method of bonding the overlapped end surfaces of the bound objects to the inner surface of the spine of the cover without using adhesive is to align the end surfaces of the bound objects. Holding the overlap with a clamp so that the end surface protrudes slightly, and then bringing the inner surface of the back of the cover into contact with the end surface, and pressing from the outer surface of the back of the cover with a high-frequency vibrator such as an ultrasonic horn. A bookbinding method for welding the inner surface of the spine of a cover and the overlapping end surfaces of objects to be bound was invented by the authors, and has been filed by the applicants of the present application. This method not only takes a long time to weld and consumes a lot of power, but also has the problem that the outer back surface of the cover, which is pressed by the high-frequency vibrator, melts and is easily crushed or damaged.

The present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems, and it is possible to weld the inner surface of the spine of a cover made of thermoplastic resin and the overlapping end surfaces of objects to be bound made of thermoplastic resin in a short time and with low power consumption. This prevents the outer surface of the back of the cover from being crushed or damaged, and when bound by welding, the back of the cover tends to curve in the thickness direction, as in high-quality bound books. The purpose is to provide a bookbinding method.

The present invention brings the back inner surface of a cover made of thermoplastic resin into pressure contact with the overlapping end surface of bound objects made of thermoplastic resin, and at least one of the overlapping covers or bound objects is moved in a direction parallel to the pressure contact surface. The bookbinding method is characterized in that the welding is performed by generating frictional heat on the press-contact surfaces by reciprocating them with a minute amplitude, and this configuration achieves the above object.

In Figures 1 and 2, 1 is a cover made of thermoplastic resin such as polypropylene, 2 is a bag-shaped bound body made of the same type of resin as the cover 1, 3 is a spacer made of the same type of resin as the cover 1, and 4 is a cover made of a thermoplastic resin such as polypropylene. , 4 is a clamp that is tightened and held using a tightening bolt 5 so that one edge of the bound object 2 and the spacer 3 are aligned so that the end surfaces of the alternately overlapped objects protrude slightly, and 6 is a clamp that holds the bound object 2 and the spacer 3 together. When the clamps 4, 4 holding the overlap of 3 are dropped as shown in the figure, a fixed clamp is set to prevent the clamps 4, 4 from moving in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the paper in FIG. 1, that is, in the horizontal direction in FIG. The table 7 has a shallow groove into which the spine of the cover 1 just fits, and the inner surface of the spine of the cover 1 fitted into the shallow groove is used to connect the bound objects 2 and spacers 3 protruding from the set clamps 4, 4. A pressing body is used to press against the aligned end faces, and while pressing, the pressure is 0.5 to 0.5 in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the paper in Fig.
It reciprocates with an amplitude of about 2 mm and a frequency of about 150 to 300 cycles. As a result, frictional heat is generated between the inner surface of the spine of the cover 1 and the aligned end surfaces of the bound object 2 and the spacer 3, and both surfaces become melted. Therefore, if the reciprocating movement of the pressing body 7 is stopped and if necessary, cooling air is blown from the outside to cool it, both surfaces will be bonded together. If the pressing body 7 is raised at that stage, the cover 1 will remain on the table 6 side together with the bound objects 2 and spacers 3. All that is left to do is to pull up the clamps 4, 4 from the table 6 and release the binding material 2, etc., to create a high quality bound book with a curve in the thickness direction on the spine of the cover 1, as shown in Fig. 3. You will get a binding like this.

In FIGS. 4 and 5, 11 and 12 are the same covers and bound objects as 1 and 2, and 13 is a spacer made of, for example, cardboard, which does not adhere even if the thermoplastic resin of the cover 11 and the bound objects 12 is welded. 14, 14, one is fixed to the table 16, and the other is a clamp that is moved in the direction of the arrow on the table 16 by a plunger, etc.; 17, the cover 11 is attached to the bottom surface by a suitable means, and Pressing force that is moved vertically by a reciprocating means in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the paper in FIG. 4, that is, in the horizontal direction in FIG. It is the body. The objects to be bound 12 and the spacers 13 are stacked alternately, as shown in the figure.
It is placed upright with one end aligned with the surface of the table 16 and in contact with the fixed clamp 14, and is gripped by the clamps 14, 14 by moving the movable clamp 14 to the right in FIG. Ru.
As a result, the upper edge of the spacer 13 is aligned so that its height slightly protrudes from the height of the clamps 14, 14, and the upper edge of the bound object 12 is aligned so as to protrude approximately 1 mm from the height. The pressing body 17 is attached with the cover 11 so that its outer surface is facing upward, so that the inner surface of the back of the cover 11 is pressed against the upper end surface of the overlap between the bound object 12 held by the clamps 14 and the spacer 13. It is lowered and reciprocated in a direction perpendicular to the paper plane of FIG. 4, that is, in a left-right direction in FIG. 5, while in pressure contact. The resulting frictional heat generation causes the inner surface of the spine of the cover 11 and the protruding upper edge of the bound object 12 to be welded to each other. Then, the reciprocating movement of the pressing body 17 is stopped, the cover 11 is removed, the pressing body 17 is raised, and the clamp 1
If the grips of 4 and 14 are released and the spacer 13 between the bound objects 12 welded to the cover 11 is removed, a bound object like a high-quality bound book as shown in FIG. 6 can be obtained. It will be done.

The present invention is not limited to the examples described above, and even if only the pressure contact surface of the cover, the bound objects, or the spacer is made of thermoplastic resin, the bound objects can be fixed even without using a spacer. Even if it is not a bag but just a sheet, even if the direction of reciprocating motion is in the left-right direction in Figure 1, or if the reciprocating motion is performed both on the bound object side or with the pressing object, the amplitude and frequency of the reciprocating motion will cause welding. Of course, it may be outside the above-mentioned range as long as it is suitable.
