In the past, count management for checking the number of printed materials has been associated with a large workload on manufacturing sites. In particular, with the development of the distribution economy, the demand for printed materials such as securities has increased, and with this, the number management required for printed materials such as securities has become the most important control in securities printing factories. .

Under these circumstances, conventional sheet counting devices do not have the ability to mechanically count stacked printed matter one sheet at a time.
There is a method in which the sheets are counted while turning them, and a method in which light is emitted onto the object to be measured using a light-emitting diode or the like, and the reflected light is used to read the shadows between the sheets and the number is counted optically.

In addition, with the optical counting method, it is possible to measure paper with a thickness of about 1 mm or more because shadows tend to appear on the edges, but with thin paper that is less than 0.5 mm, shadows do not easily appear on the edges and measurement is difficult. However, there are problems such as frequent counting errors.

The image signal from the line sensor camera 2 is filtered to remove high frequency components by a low-pass filter 11.
The differential circuit 12 performs differentiation processing, the A/D converter 13 digitizes the signal, and the image is stored in the image memory 14 . The image signal stored in the image memory 14 is once sent to the RAM 20, and in the CPU 21, it is subjected to pattern matching processing with a reference waveform corresponding to one printed material previously stored in the RAM 20, and the number of cutouts is accumulated. and displayed on the display device 15.

Here, the reference waveform to be stored in the RAM 20 is obtained by scanning the laminated printed matter 4 placed on it in advance, determining similar signal patterns that repeatedly appear, and storing data for one waveform. The starting point of the line camera 2 is the bottom edge of the laminated printed matter, and when the light intensity changes at the top edge, the scan is completed as an end mark. The pulse motor 17, driver 18, and controller 19 constitute a drive circuit that drives the line sensor camera 2 up and down.

Next, it is determined whether the image signal matches the reference waveform or not in step S3, and the number of matched waveforms is counted in step S4. For waveforms that do not match, the number of pixels is accumulated, and this is divided by the number of pixels of the reference waveform in S5, and this value is included in the result of S4 to accumulate the number of waveforms in one field of view. S6 to calculate the number of printed matter in the.

In this way, the edges of the printed matter stacked one after another are scanned, the number of waveforms of the image signal is calculated, and when the image signal of the end mark is captured, step S8 assumes that all scanning of the printed matter 4 has been completed and the entire field of view is scanned. S9 to integrate the number of waveforms.
