(Means for Solving the Problems) However, according to the present invention, a barrel tank composed of a substantially cylindrical tank and a dish-shaped rotating tank is rotatable around an axis and freely rotatable within a vertical plane. The workpiece, abrasive material and, if necessary, water and compound are charged into the barrel tank, and after the workpiece is rough-finished by whirlpool barrel polishing by rotating only the dish-shaped rotating tank, the workpiece is placed in the barrel tank. The axis of the barrel is rotated to a horizontal or inclined position, the barrel tank is rotated around the axis, and the workpiece is polished continuously using the same abrasive material by rotating barrel polishing, so whirlpool barrel polishing and rotating barrel polishing are These can be performed continuously using the same abrasive material, and extremely good surface roughness can be obtained. In addition, the barrel tank is installed horizontally or inclined, a predetermined amount of workpieces and abrasive material are charged into the barrel tank, and the barrel tank is rotated around its axis to polish the workpieces by rotating barrel polishing. death,
After that, if the barrel tank is subsequently rotated so that its axis is almost vertical, and only the dish-shaped rotating tank of the barrel tank is rotated to polish the workpiece, the workpiece will first be polished. A small radius is added to the edge by gentle rotating barrel polishing around , followed by high efficiency polishing by swirl barrel polishing. Therefore, the above-mentioned conventional problems such as no chipping, cracking, or chipping occur even when the workpiece is made of hard and brittle materials are solved.

Embodiment 1 That is, according to the method of the present invention, an appropriate amount of workpiece and abrasive material are charged into a barrel tank whose axis is approximately vertical (it may be tilted depending on the case), and only the rotating tank is rotated. Then, perform eddy current barrel polishing in the usual manner, and once the specified degree of polishing is reached, the axis of the barrel tank is tilted at a certain angle (for example, 30
or 90 degrees), rotate the barrel bath and perform rotary barrel polishing in the usual manner. The above-described continuous polishing in which whirlpool barrel polishing is followed by rotating barrel polishing is generally used when finishing polishing a workpiece rather than rough polishing. Contrary to the above, in continuous polishing in which the barrel tank is first rotated with the axis line inclined, and then only the rotating tank is rotated with the axis line perpendicular, a small radius is first created at the edge of the workpiece.
After that, the surface is roughly polished. Therefore, the connected state is selected and used depending on the purpose of polishing. As the cylindrical tank of the barrel tank in the above, a hexagonal or octagonal square tubular tub is used, but when it is necessary to deburr the workpiece, it is advantageous to use a cylindrical tub for sliding polishing. To polish a workpiece using a cylindrical tank, first, the axis is tilted and the barrel tank is rotated, and after completing a predetermined polishing, the axis is made vertical and vortex barrel polishing is performed.

First, the barrel tank 3 is installed so that its axis is almost vertical, a predetermined amount of workpieces and abrasive material are put into the barrel tank 3, water and compound are added if necessary,
If necessary, a lid is attached to the opening 24 of the barrel tank 3 to seal it. Next, when the electromagnetic clutch 21 is turned on and the variable speed motor 20 is driven, the drive shaft 12 rotates and the rotary tank 11 rotates. As a result of this rotation, the mass (a mixture of the workpiece and abrasive material, etc.) is pushed up toward the inner peripheral wall of the square tubular tank 10 by centrifugal force, and then falls toward the center of the rotating tank 11 due to gravity, as indicated by the arrow 25 in FIG. The workpiece is polished (roughly finished) with an abrasive by repeating the flow shown in . When this whirlpool barrel polishing is completed, the variable speed motor 20 is stopped and the electromagnetic clutch 21 is turned off. Next, the motor 7 with a speed reducer is started to rotate the barrel tank 3, and the axis of the barrel tank is tilted horizontally or inwardly or outwardly by 30 degrees with respect to the horizontal as shown in FIG. 3, and then stopped.
Next, the variable speed motor 16 is driven to rotate the barrel tank 3 along with the rectangular cylinder tank 10 and the rotating tank 11 around its axis to cause the mass to flow as shown by the arrow 26 in FIG. Polished (gloss finish).
Therefore, the workpiece can be rough-finished such as removing burrs and burrs and adding radii in the whirlpool barrel bath, and then can be fine-finished and gloss-finished with plating base etc. by rotating barrel polishing using the same abrasive material. . When the rotary barrel polishing is completed, the variable speed motor 16 is stopped, and the motor 7 with a speed reducer is driven again to further rotate the barrel tank 3 so that the opening 24 faces downward and the mass is transferred to a vibration sorter (Fig. (not shown) to complete one cycle.

Incidentally, providing a spiral protrusion on the inner peripheral wall of the cylindrical tank 10 of the barrel tank 3 has the effect of improving the polishing effect and smoothing the discharge. Further, in the above embodiments, the case where the apparatus of the present invention is used for polishing has been described, but it can also be used for mixing, stirring, pulverizing, chemical operations, etc. other than polishing.
