Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a binding device which, in binding piled sheets of paper o the like into a bundle, enables the ends of a binding band to be spliced always at a fixed position independent of the thickness of the object to be bond and ensures a good invariable quality of the binding. CONSTITUTION:The time taken for a sensor 30, after the start of the actuation of a compression board 2, to detect the farthest end of one batch of piled sheets of paper A is converted by calculation into a thickness of the pile of paper A. On the basis of this result, the operation of a band-feeding mechanism 10 is so controlled as to have the back end of the binding band 8 at a specific position on the bond bundle A and the actuation of a cutting mechanism 15 is also controlled. Therefore, in forming bundles of piled sheets of paper A or the like, the ends of the binding band can be spliced always at a fixed point independent of the thickness of the bond object.

On the other hand, the control unit 31 converts the thickness of the paper sheet group A from the time from the start of the compression plate 2 to the detection of the position of the outermost end of the paper sheet group A by the sensor 30. Then, based on the conversion result, the drive roller 12 and the driven roller 13 of the belt feeding mechanism 10 rotate, the binding band 8 is further extended by a predetermined length, and then the movable blade of the cutter mechanism 15 is moved. 17 moves in the direction of arrow d in FIG. 2 to cut the binding band 8. As a result, the binding band 8 has such a length that the band end (end part) to be thermocompression bonded comes to a predetermined position of the paper sheet group A.

Before the binding band 8 is cut, the band feeding mechanism 1 is operated while the guide plate pair 21 of the band hanging mechanism 22 is rotating.
The rollers 12 and 13 of 0 are rotated in the direction of feeding the binding band 8, and even if a narrow paper band whose strength is weaker than the conventional one is used as the binding band 8, stable binding without band breakage or the like. You can do it. The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and it goes without saying that various modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the invention.

Means and the time from the start of starting of the compression plate to the detection of the position of the outermost end of the paper sheet group by the detection means so that the thickness of the paper sheet group is converted so that the end portion of the binding band comes to a predetermined position of the paper sheet group. And a control means for controlling the feeding operation of the band feeding means and the cutting operation by the band cutting means.
