Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the gate structure of a sandwich mold, with which molded article such as side molding or the like is molded by sandwich molding method so as to have excellent adherence between the core layer and skin layer and surface exterior of the article. CONSTITUTION:A cavity 3 having the shape of a side molding as a molded article is provided on an upper mold 1 and a lower mold 2 as the main body of a mold. The gate structure concerned is realized either by eliminating the difference in the level of a gate 4 from the level of the cavity 3, which is normally provided, or by enlarging the opening cross-sectional area of the gate 4, which normally is thin, by thickening the gate 4 to 1.8-3.0mm.

However, as shown in FIG.
In any of the gate structures shown in FIG. 9, when the side molding is molded by the sandwich molding method, two points in FIGS. 7 and 9 are formed between the inner core layer and the outer skin layer in the portion close to the gate 4 in the cavity 3. A decrease in adhesion leading to delamination is observed in the portion shown by the chain line. In addition, the surface of the side molding becomes wavy due to the generation of air pockets during molding, resulting in a poor appearance.

The decrease in the adhesion between the core layer and the skin layer cannot be obtained because the opening cross-sectional area of the gate 4 is small, so that a sufficient injection pressure of the resin cannot be obtained. Then, the next resin material is injected in the form of being pushed in,
Therefore, it is considered that this occurs because the interfaces of both are not fused. In addition, in the wavy state of the side molding surface, there is a step in the gate 4, and a turbulent flow of the resin material is generated there and air is entrapped, the resin material in that state enters the cavity 3, and an air trap is formed on the side molding surface. It is thought to happen because it occurs.

In order to achieve the above object, in the present invention, a mold-shaped cavity is provided in a mold body, and a step of a gate portion which is usually provided through a step with respect to the cavity is provided. The gist is a gate structure of a sandwich molding die, which is characterized in that a gate portion which is eliminated or is usually thin has a thickness of 1.8 to 3.0 mm and an opening cross-sectional area is enlarged.

[Operation] Eliminating the step of the gate part or the thickness of the gate part
By forming a large thickness of 1.8 to 3.0 mm and enlarging the opening cross-sectional area, turbulent flow is suppressed from being generated in the resin that passes through the gate part, the resin flows smoothly and sufficient injection pressure is obtained. .. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the resin containing air from being supplied into the cavity, to eliminate the wavy state on the surface of the molded product, and to improve the adhesion between the core layer and the skin layer of the molded product.

As shown in FIG. 1, an inclined portion 5 is provided at the opening of the gate 4 to the cavity 3 by cutting the lower mold 2. The inclined portion 5 eliminates the conventional stepped portion and widens the opening cross-sectional area to the cavity 3. In addition, the upper mold 1 forming the gate 4
Is scraped off to form the slanted portion 6. The slanted portion 6 allows the resin to flow smoothly in the gate 4.

Next, the operation based on the gate structure of the above sandwich molding die will be described. As shown in FIG. 2, a predetermined amount of melted resin material 7 forming a skin layer is supplied to the gate 4 and injected from the gate 4 into the cavity 3. As the resin material 7, soft vinyl chloride resin, styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene copolymer resin (SEBS), or the like is used. Next, as shown in FIG. 3, the molten resin material 8 forming the core layer is injected from the gate 4 into the cavity 3 after a predetermined time has elapsed. As the resin material 8, talc-containing polypropylene or the like is used. The resin material 8 forming the core layer may be injected, and the resin material 7 forming the skin layer may be injected at the same time.

As described above, since the step portion as in the prior art is eliminated from the opening portion of the gate 4 to the cavity 3 to form the inclined portion 5, any of the above resin materials 7 and 8 is used for the cavity 3. Even when injecting into the interior, turbulent flow is suppressed from being generated in the resin materials 7 and 8. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the resin materials 7 and 8 in which air is entrapped from being supplied into the cavity. As a result, the wavy state of the surface of the side molding as a molded product disappears.

Further, since the opening of the gate 4 to the cavity 3 is widened and the slanted portion 6 is provided on the upper portion of the gate 4, the resin materials 7 and 8 flow smoothly and at the same time. Injection pressure can be obtained. Therefore, the resin material 8 is pressed against the resin material 7, and as a result, the adhesion between the core layer and the skin layer of the molded product is improved. (Second Embodiment) Next, another embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. The description of the same parts as those of the conventional example shown in FIGS. 9 and 10 will be omitted, and the same reference numerals will be used for the same members.

It is formed to ~ 3.0mm. If this thickness is less than 1.8 mm, it is difficult for the resin materials 7 and 8 to flow smoothly, and a sufficient injection pressure cannot be obtained. On the other hand, if it exceeds 3.0 mm, it becomes difficult to separate the gate 4 portion after molding.

Next, the operation of the sandwich molding die based on the gate structure will be described. Similar to the first embodiment, a predetermined amount of the molten resin material 7 forming the skin layer is supplied to the gate 4 and injected from the gate 4 into the cavity 3. Then, the resin material 8 forming the core layer is injected from the gate 4 into the cavity 3 after a predetermined time has elapsed.

As described above, since the opening of the gate 4 to the cavity 3 is formed thicker than the conventional one, even when any of the above resin materials 7 and 8 is injected into the cavity 3. The generation of turbulence in the resin materials 7 and 8 is suppressed. Therefore, the resin materials 7 and 8 in a state where air is entrained are prevented from being supplied into the cavity 3, and the wavy state of the surface of the molded product is eliminated.

Further, since the gate 4 is formed thick, and the slanted portion 6 is provided on the upper portion of the gate 4, the resin materials 7 and 8 flow smoothly and are sufficient. The present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, but may be configured as follows within the scope of the invention. (1) As shown in FIG. 5, even if the lower mold 2 is cut in the opening of the gate 4 to the cavity 3 to form the inclined portion 5, and the opening to the cavity 3 is made larger than that of the second embodiment. Good.
With this structure, the surface condition of the molded product is further improved, and the adhesion between the core layer and the skin layer is further improved. (2) Further, as shown in FIG. 6, in the gate structure of FIG. 5, the oblique portion 6 above the gate 4 may be omitted to provide a conventional structure. Even with this structure, the surface condition of the molded product and the adhesion between the core layer and the skin layer can be ensured.
