Abstract

PURPOSE:To record a luminance signal and a color signal in a video signal separately without increasing tape consumption quantity by using a magnetic recording tape for double side recording so as to double simultaneous recording area of the tape. CONSTITUTION:At first, a magnetic substance is coated to both sides of a tape, and magnetic heads 5, 6 are provided to both sides of a middle cylinder 7 placed between upper and lower cylinders 8. Then a folded tape is wound to a rotary cylinder head 1 so as not to be in duplicate and in a way of oblique recording. Then the magnetic head 5 is used to record a luminance signal on the surface of the tape supplied from the upper stage tape supply reel 3 and the magnetic head 6 is used to record a color signal to a rear side of the tape folded by a tape winding guide 2 and the tape is returned to a lower stage tape winding reel. Thus, the luminance signal is recorded on the front side and the color signal is recorded on the rear side simultaneously. Furthermore, the magnetic heads 5, 6 adopt 2-head oblique recording.
