[発明が解決しようとする問題点]

速度で前進して幅圧下を行うために、ストリツプ
cが蛇行或いはキヤンバー等を有していた場合に
ストリツプcに対するエツジヤーロールa,bの
圧下が片当りとなり、そのために一側のみが過大
に幅圧下されて、特に薄いストリツプc等の場合
に座屈による形状不良d部が発生したり、過大な
負荷を受けるエツジヤーロールa側の損耗が増大
して装置の寿命が短縮されるといつた問題を有し
ていた。又、この問題を解決するために、幅圧下
開始時の圧下速度を低速にしてエツジヤーロール
a,bがストリツプcにゆつくり当るようにし、
且つストリツプcに形状不良が生じないような圧
下量で圧下を行うことが考えられているが、圧下
の応答性が悪い、或いは目的の圧下量が得られな
