The upper conveying device is held substantially horizontally by keeping the upper conveying device at a predetermined angle, while the upper conveying device is urged upward by a spring with a link connected thereto, and a stopper is provided between the two. Therefore, by separating the pair of upper and lower conveying devices from each other in a substantially horizontal state, it is possible to easily and reliably deposit banknotes on the lower conveying device when banknotes are temporarily held. A banknote dispensing/recovery switching mechanism in a cash dispenser according to claim 1. 3. By biasing the lower conveying device upwardly with a spring against a link that connects the lower conveying device and the fixed bill conveying path, the lower conveying device and the upper conveying device are connected when paying out or collecting banknotes. 3. A banknote dispensing/recovery switching mechanism in a cash dispenser according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the mechanism is adapted to absorb the thickness of banknotes held between the device and the banknote.
