Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 [産業上の利用分野]本発明は、平削盤、形削盤などに
使用されているヘールバイトの製造方法及びこのバイト
の形状改良に関するものである。 [従来技術と問題点]平削盤、形削盤での鉄物ワーク、
アルミ、ステンレスワークの平削り作業において使用さ
れる剣バイトなどは比較的容易に誰にでも研磨、再研磨
することができる。しかし、ヘールバイトは刃部形状の
すくい角や研磨で切れ味が変化するので研磨には熟練を
必要とする。このため、ヘールバイトの研磨が完壁に出
来れば平削り作業の50%以上マスターした熟練工と云
って過言ではない。従って、初心者やパートの人でも簡
単にヘールバイトを研ぐことの出来るヘールバイトを開
発すれば、この作業の人手不足や作業能率の改善に貢献
できる。従来のヘールバイトの構成及び使用例を図2に
示している。バイト本体1は、シャンク部2及びバイト
台3とこれにロー付けされた刃部(ハイス部)4からな
り、刃部(ハイス部)4の前面にすくい角となる曲率半
径Rの凹曲面を熟練工が手作業で形成する。この凹曲面
の加工は、経験とカンにより熟練工がクラインダーにて
造形しているため、個々にクラインダー作業による刃先
形状に違いを生じるし、刃先をなましてしまい又、研磨
時間も相当掛けている。更に、上記ヘールバイトにて平
削り作業をすると、図2のように刃部4の曲率半径Rが
横幅全体に均一であるため切粉Cの排出方向が加工方向
Kへそり返り、切粉Cの排除性と切削性とに問題があ
る。 [発明が解決しようとする課題]本発明は、上記従来の
ヘールバイトの研磨方法、それにヘールバイトの形状か
ら来る問題を解決する新規なバイト製造技術及びバイト
を提供することを目的、課題とする。 [課題を解決するための手段]本発明のバイト製造方法
は下記による。即ち、バイトの刃部はその前面を少なく
とも所定のすくい角となる曲率半径に適宜手段により凹
設(湾設)し、この刃部がバイト台に付着させてなるヘ
ールバイト及びその製造方法としたものである。また、
バイト本体のシャンク部に対して刃部を付着するバイト
台もしくは刃部のみを、バイトの平削り方向に対して左
右いづれかの方向に傾設したヘールバイトとしたもので
ある。更に、バイト本体のバイト台に付着した刃部のす
くい角となる前面曲率半径を刃部の両縁に移行するにつ
れて増大もしくは減少させたヘールバイトである。 [作 用]上記製造に係わるヘールバイトの刃部に
所定のすくい角となる前面曲率半径が形成されているの
で、作業者は刃部先端の研磨のみを行うことにより研磨
作業が終了し、完壁なヘールバイトとなる。そして、前
記ヘールバイトの前面曲率半径の両縁による増減や傾設
により切粉が加工方向に対して側方へ流れて排除作用す
るので、平削り加工をより円滑に行う。 [実 施 例]以下、本発明のヘールバイトの製造技術
及びヘールバイト形状につき図面の実施例で説明する。
図1は2つの製造技術を示すヘールバイトの斜視図、図
2は従来型ヘールバイトの作用を示す斜視図、図3は本
発明のベールバイトの第3の製造技術を示す斜視図、図
4は図3のフローチャート図、図5は本発明の第2発明
実施例を示す斜視図、図6はその作用平断面図、図7,
8は第3発明実施例を示す斜視図と作用平断面を各々示
している。図1において、バイト本体1のバイト台3に
付着(ロー付け)された刃部4は、その前面を所定のす
くい角となる曲率半径Rに凹設(湾設)し、この刃部4
がバイト台3に付設してなるヘールバイトの2つの製造
方法を示している。ワイヤカット法(i)は、刃部4の
前面に所定の曲率半径Rを凹設(湾設)する方法とし
て、ワイヤカット放電によって曲率半径Rをワイヤ10
で切断する。また、鍛造成形法(ii)は、刃部4及び
バイト台3とを鍛造成形により成形する。特に、刃部4
の前面に曲率半径Rの凹面を鍛造法で凹設(湾設)する
のである。鍛造成形後の刃部4をバイト台3に付着(ロ
ー付け)する。図3、4はプレス成形法による本発明ヘ
ールバイトの製造技術を示し、刃部40及びバイト本体
1のバイト台3′をすくい角である曲率半径Rと受け面
R′となるよう「プレス成形」(a),(b)する。そ
して、プレス成形された刃部(ハイス部)40とバイト
台3′との「溶着(ロー付け)」(c)をしたのち、刃
部(ハイス部)40の「研磨」(d)を行い、「完成
品」(e)とする。図5は、本発明ヘールバイトの形状
に関する実地例を示し、バイト本体のシャンク部2に対
して刃部(ハイス部)4を付着するバイト台3を、バイ
トの平削り(溝削り)の加工方向Fに対して左右いづれ
かの方向に約5°前後に傾設した構成となっている。こ
のバイト台3の傾設で刃部4も同角度だけ傾設すること
になるから、ワークWの平削り(溝削り)を加工方向F
に実行すると、切粉Cは刃部4の傾設された側方へ矢印
のように排除作用を受けながら排出する。従って、平削
り作業においての切粉Cの排除作用と切削性能とが増大
する。図7と図8とは、本発明ヘールバイトの形状に関
する他の実施態様を示し、バイト本体1のバイト台3に
付設した刃部3の前面曲率半径を刃部の両縁に移行する
につれてR1に増大もしくはR2に減少させた関係に形
成する。上記曲率半径R1及びR2はR1>R2の関係
にあるから、ワークWに対して平削加工を矢印方向Fに
すると、切粉CはR1側からR2側へ矢印のように排除
作用を受けながら排出する。従って、平削り作業におい
ての切粉Cの排除作用と切削性能とが改善される。本発
明は、上記実施例に限定されることなく発明の要旨内で
の設計変更が可能であること勿論である。例えば、ヘー
ルバイトの刃部の製造方法は、前記実施例に限定されな
い。更に、刃部とシャンク部との傾設関係や曲率半径の
刃部での関係も前記実施例に限定されない。 [効 果]本発明によるときは、バイトの刃部の前
面を所定のすくい角となる曲率半径に適宜手段により凹
設し、この刃部をバイト台に付着したヘールバイトとし
たから、作業者は刃部先端の磨耗による研磨のみを行う
ことにより研磨作業が終了し、完壁なヘールバイトとな
る。従って、未熟練工でもヘールバイトを使用した平削
り作業を高効率に実施できる。更に、刃部をバイトの平
削り方向に対して左右いづれかの方向に傾設するか、又
は刃部のすくい角となる前面曲率半径を刃部の両縁に移
行するにつれて増大もしくは減少させたから、平削り作
業、形削り作業において切粉がバイトの加工方向に対し
て側方へ円滑に流れる排除作用を行い、平削り、形削り
加工を高精度、高効率に実行できる。
