Description of the Related Art In a conventional method for manufacturing a display tube, as shown in FIG. 4, first, a low melting point glass 19 is applied to the entire sealing surface of a lid member 1 and preliminarily baked and fixed. Next, the lid member 1 is placed on the upper mounting portion of the movable heater tower 3 which is vertically movable in the exhaust device of the display tube 20 shown in FIG. A heater 4 is arranged in the upper part of the movable heater tower 3, is placed on the upper part of the movable heater tower 3, and melts again the low melting point glass 19 on the lid member 1 which has been pre-calcined in advance. Next, when the gas in the display tube 20 is sufficiently exhausted, the movable heater tower 3 rises and the melted low melting point glass 19 on the lid member 1 seals the exhaust hole 5 of the display tube 20.
