Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the subject clothes incorporated with ultraviolet absorber and/or ultraviolet reflective agent, thereby absorbing and/or reflecting the arc light and ultraviolet light generating during welding operation, thus enabling the protection of the skin of welding operators. CONSTITUTION:The objective clothes can be obtained by either incorporating ultraviolet absorber (e.g. ethyl p-aminobenzoate, cinoxate, oxybenzone) and/or ultraviolet reflective agent (e.g. zinc oxide, titanium dioxide) in the earlier production stage, or imparting such agent(s) to a fabric through a pretreatment process such as padding technique.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, 100% cotton clothing and polyester / cotton blend clothing have been used in places where welding work is carried out, such as shipyards, ironworks, automobile factories and piping factories. However, in these cases, the arc light during welding work may pass through work clothes, shirts, pants and the like, causing skin burns, reddening, and blistering.
