Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the delay time in signal transmission and preclude deterioration of the waveform of the transmitted signal by relieving reflex noises and cross-talk noises on a signal transmission line. CONSTITUTION:Signal pins 31 and ones 41 of connector member 30/40 are surrounded each with a mass of insulator part 32/42 made of a material having low dielectric constant or a material having a small dielectric tangent without provision of any protruding part into the air. Those portions of signal pins 31/41 which are situated in the respective insulator mass 32/42, are isolated magnetically by a metal shield plate 34/44 while they are grouped into a combination of signal pins to perform differential signal transmission.

However, in the connector having such a structure, the insulator portions 12 and 22 of the respective connectors 10 and 20 and the protruding portion in the air of the connector signal pin 21 (between the female connector 20 and the daughter board D) are arranged. There is a problem in that the characteristic impedance of the signal transmission line becomes discontinuous due to the change in the dielectric constant, and reflection noise is generated due to the discontinuity. Further, in this connector, crosstalk noise may occur in the insulator portions 12 and 22 of the connectors 10 and 20 due to mutual coupling of the connector signal pins. These noises are
It has been a factor that has a great adverse effect on the realization of high-speed signal transmission, such as delaying the signal transmission and deteriorating the rising of the transmission signal waveform.

According to the connector of the present invention, the characteristic impedance of the connector signal transmission line can be made equal by surrounding the connector signal pin with the insulator portion without providing the protruding portion in the air, and thereby the reflection can be achieved. Noise can be reduced. Furthermore, the connector signal pins in the insulator section are surrounded by a metal shield plate for each combination of a plurality of connector signal pins that perform differential signal transmission, and are magnetically isolated to prevent crosstalk noise between the connector signal pins. Can be relaxed. This makes it possible to realize a connector suitable for high-speed signal transmission.

Embodiments of the present invention will now be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view for explaining the structure of a connector according to an embodiment of the present invention. In the figure, 30 is a male connector mounted on the motherboard M, and 40 is a female connector mounted on the daughter board D. In each connector 30, 40, 31, 41
Indicates connector signal pins connected to the wirings on the boards M and D, respectively.
1 is an insulator portion 32, 42 made of a material having a low dielectric constant such as a fluororesin or a material having a small dielectric loss tangent.
By this, it is fixed in a state where it is entirely surrounded without providing a protruding portion in the air. The insulator parts 32 and 42 are surrounded by outer casings 33 and 43 made of reinforced plastic such as engineering plastic. The connector signal pins 31 and 41 of the connectors 30 and 40 are connected to the mother board M and the daughter board D, respectively.
Are connected to each through hole.
