Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent character deterioration resultant from nonuniform wear of a magnetic head by making larger the width of a magnetic recording/ regeneration device cleaning tape than that of a magnetic tape for recording/ regeneration. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a magnetic head 1 which records and regenerates data on a magnetic tape, a broad cleaning tape 2 which cleans the sliding surface of the magnetic head 1 and a tape guide 4 which stabilizes the running of the tape. When dust or dirt 5 adheres to the end of a recording and regeneration tape 3, this construction makes it possible to eliminate the built-up dust 5 by running a cleaning tape whose width is capable of covering the dust-built up portion to a satisfactory extent.
