Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a freshness keeping agent containing a compound having hydrosilyl group and a hydrosilylation catalyst and effective in removing ethylene generated from fruits, vegetables, flowers, etc., and keeping their freshness. CONSTITUTION:The objective freshness keeping agent contains a compound having hydrosilyl group and a hydrosilylation catalyst. The compound having hydrosilyl group is e.g. a low-molecular siloxane compound such as tetramethyltetrasiloxane and triethoxysilane or a siloxane polymer expressed by formula (R is univalent hydrocarbon group; (n) is integer of >=2). Preferable examples of the hydrosilylation catalyst is a metal of the group VIII and its compound such as a compound of platinum, rhodium or ruthenium, concretely H2PtCl6, PtCl2[P(C6H5)3]2, etc.
