Description of the Related Art As is well known, in electrophotographic technology, a photoconductive phenomenon is used to form an electrostatic latent image on a photoconductor, and toner is attached to the electrostatic latent image by electrostatic force. This is a technique for making a visible image. This visible image is transferred to the recording paper, and the toner that is not transferred and remains on the surface of the drum-shaped photoconductor is removed by a cleaner. This series of processes is repeated to perform continuous printing.

In the figure, 1 is a photoconductor drum, which rotates in the direction of R 1 . Reference numeral 5 denotes a charge eliminator, which removes the latent image charge on the photosensitive drum 1. Residual toner remaining on the surface of the drum 1 without being transferred to the recording paper (not shown) is scraped off by the brush roller 2 rotating in the direction R 2 at a constant speed ratio with respect to the drum 1, and further brush roller 2 There is provided a means for scraping off the toner adhered to the sheet by a scraper 3 provided on the downstream side in the R 2 direction. Although the above is known as a cleaner using a brush means, as shown in FIG. 2, in combination with the brush means, a blade is used as an additional cleaning means on the downstream side in the rotation direction R 1 of the photosensitive drum 1. Those provided with 4 are also known.

With such a two-step method, the cleaning effect is considerably improved. However, in some cases,
If the toner is completely removed at the stage when the brush 2 is used, the toner serving as a lubricant becomes insufficient during the subsequent cleaning by the blade 4. That is, in the case of the blade type, since the elastic blade 4 is brought into direct contact with the surface of the photosensitive drum 1 to scrape off the toner, the coefficient of friction between the blade 4 and the drum 1 becomes important, and the coefficient is lowered. In order to do so, a means of mixing a lubricant into the toner is known, and in short, the toner itself is an object to be removed, and at the same time, a lubricating effect is exhibited.

することにある。In this case, of course, if the toner can be completely completely removed by the brush 2 only, the blade means is not necessary, but in such a case, two steps are taken into consideration. The cleaning method of is adopted. However, if the residual toner, which is expected to have a lubricating effect, is already insufficient at the stage of the blade 4, the phenomenon of so-called “edge chipping” occurs at the blade tip (edge) portion 6 of the blade 4 due to insufficient lubrication. There is a case. This is particularly likely to occur in the non-image areas on both ends of the photosensitive drum 1 where the amount of toner is originally small. Therefore, the object of the present invention is to use a cleaner that uses both a blade means and a brush means in combination, by interposing toner as a lubricant between the photosensitive drum and the photosensitive drum over the entire effective width of the blade. It is an object of the present invention to provide an electrophotographic apparatus which can fully exhibit the advantages and can solve the problem of "edge breakage".

Set the blade width → the effective width of the brush → the effective width of the scraper → the maximum image width in this order, especially by making the scraper width narrower than the brush width, it is possible to prevent the toner from being completely removed by the brush means. The shortage of the lubricant during the subsequent blade cleaning and the harmful effects associated therewith are prevented.

る。DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 shows a brush roller 2 constituting a brush means and a roller 2 of the cleaner system used in the apparatus of the present invention.
FIG. 3 is a perspective view schematically showing the relationship between the scraper 3 for scraping off the toner adhering to, and the effective width of these blades and the effective width of the blade and the maximum image width. As shown in the figure, in the device of the present invention, the following relationships are established between the effective widths A, B and E of the respective parts of the cleaner system and the maximum image width (W). There is something. Maximum image width (W) <Effective scraping width of brush roller scraper (A) <Effective brush width of brush roller (B) <Effective blade width (E) Particularly, in the present invention, the effective width A of the scraper is set to the brush. The point that the width is narrower than the width B is one of the important features of the present invention.

Since the brush roller scraper 3 works to remove the toner to the vicinity of the end of the brush roller 2 which is applied to the non-image portion where the amount of the toner coming in is small, the residual toner is almost already left at the stage of passing through the brush means. Since it is completely removed, a shortage of the lubricant occurs during the subsequent cleaning by the blade 4, resulting in the inconvenience of the phenomenon of "edge breakage". Therefore, by setting the condition of A <B, the scraper 3 does not act on the end portion of the brush roller 2, and even if the brush roller 2 scrapes off the residual toner from the surface of the photosensitive drum 1 once, Is partially returned to the surface of the drum 1, so that the detoning is not completely performed at the stage of the brush roller 2 and therefore, the blade 4 that follows is detoned.
The shortage of lubricant due to cleaning is eliminated. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the problem of "edge defect".

いることができる。In the cleaner system, it is necessary to completely remove the residual toner so that the effective blade width E needs to be larger than the effective brush width B, that is, B <
It should be an E relationship. The effective scraping width A of the brush roll scraper is set to be larger than the maximum image width W because the scraper 3 effectively functions and the toner removal by the brush roller 2 is sufficient at least in the range of the maximum image width W. Because it expects to be done, ie W <
Should be A. After all, the requirement of the present invention is that the relationship of W <A <B <E is established. In this case, the arrangement and structure of the brush roller 2, the brush roller scraper 3, the blade 4 and the like are only examples shown in the drawings, and as long as the above relationship is established,
Any form may be used. Also, as for these materials and the like, known materials can be appropriately selected and used as necessary.
