Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily, rapidly and smoothly mount single fiber integrated optical fibers to a multifiber integrated connector by paralleling the single fiber integrated optical fibers, adhering and fixing a part thereof in the form of a tape, removing the coatings at the front end of the fibers and adhering the fibers to ferrules. CONSTITUTION:The coated fibers of the single fiber integrated optical fibers 1 are paralleled and tightly adhered in such a manner that the parts near the end of the optical fibers align to the ferrule array. These fibers are then fixed by using a parallel integrator, etc., at need. An instant-set adhesive is applied over the suitable length of the multiple optical fibers closely held in parallel with each other at the point in proximity thereto so that the fibers are integrated by the instant-set adhesive layer 11 and are so fixed as to maintain the shape of the tape. The coatings are then removed slightly longer than the length at which the fibers are inserted into fitting parts in order to insert the fibers into the ferrules adjacently to the parts adhered and fixed to the tape shape. The fibers are mounted in the ferrules in the fitting part previously coated with the adhesive.

2. Description of the Related Art Since it is very difficult in working to attach a single-fiber optical fiber to a multi-fiber connector having an extremely narrow wire-core spacing, it is necessary to widen the wire-cores and fuse the fiber cores. The connection was adopted. In this case, the line spacing is a few meters
It was general to make it about m. However, recently, there has been a strong demand for connecting or branching equipment with a core wire interval as narrow as possible, and it has become necessary to meet this demand.

The wire core sequence of a single-core-assembled optical fiber is identified by the color of the protective coating and the left-right order from the tracer, but the individual strands are extremely thin and therefore less than 0.3 mm. It is very difficult to attach it to a multi-core ferrule with insertion openings provided at intervals, and it takes a lot of time and effort to connect it. For example, 8
In the case of a core ferrule, according to the outer diameter of the fiber core,
Since the fiber insertion ports are provided at intervals of 0.25 mm, it is necessary to perform inspection with a microscope and work with tweezers in order to accurately insert the optical fiber corresponding to the insertion port of a specific number. Moreover, since the work is done in a single effort, if there is a case where the fiber comes off after being inserted once, the working time becomes significantly long, and the adhesive applied to the fitting hole hardens, causing a mounting failure. Many troubles have come to be experienced.

The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and the outline thereof is as follows. After arranging the optical fibers assembled in a single core in parallel and fixing a part of them with adhesive tape, remove the coating on the tip of the optical fiber near the fixed part and apply it to the ferrule with adhesive applied to the fitting hole. This is a single-core connector mounting method for mounting.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. According to the present invention, as shown in FIG. 1, the vicinity of the tip of the single-fiber optical fiber 1 is aligned in parallel by aligning the cores so as to match the ferrule order. An instant adhesive is applied over an appropriate length of a multi-core optical fiber which is fixed by using an aggregator or the like and is held in parallel at a position close to the agglomerate, and the instant adhesive coating layer 11 is used as shown in the figure. Fix them so that they are integrated and retain their tape shape. Next, if a parallel aggregator of the above-mentioned optical fibers is used adjacent to the part that is adhesively fixed in a tape-like shape, release it, and remove the length from the length to be inserted into the fitting part in order to insert it into the ferrule. Remove the coating for a long time.

Next, as shown in FIG.
An adhesive (not shown) is preliminarily injected into the fitting portion of the fiber core insertion port 22 and the fiber core 12 from which the protective coating is removed is inserted into the fiber core insertion port 2 of the ferrule 2.
The optical fiber is fitted into the fiber core fitting hole 21 from 2 to be fitted and held firmly until the adhesive is solidified. Since the optical fiber fixed in the form of the pre-squeeze tape is manufactured so that the interval between the ferrule insertion ports and the interval between the optical fiber cores match, the above insertion and fitting can be performed very smoothly. Also, after the optical fiber is inserted into the connector ferrule and fixed by adhesion, the fiber core protruding from the other end face of the ferrule is polished so as to match the end face of the ferrule, and the mounting is completed.
