Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an artificial lawn capable of preventing a color from sticking to golf balls or others by using filaments made of a synthetic resin having a specific flat cross section and a specific pigment content. CONSTITUTION:The objective artificial lawn is formed by using filaments, having <=3 flatness ratio of the cross section and 0.2-2.0wt.% pigment content and made of a synthetic resin such as polypropylene or Saran(R) as pile yarn and setting the yarn in the form of loop piles or cut piles in a base fabric. Since the filaments have a low flatness degree, the content of the pigment per unit area in the thickness direction (the minor axis direction of the cross section) is increased. Thereby, the pigment with the low content provides coloring effects sufficiently close to those of natural lawn.

[Prior art and its problems] At the driving range,
Artificial lawns that are easier to construct and maintain than natural lawns are often used. This artificial lawn is generally made by bundling a plurality of synthetic resin filaments and planting them on the entire base cloth to form a large number of piles. Since the artificial lawn is similar to the natural lawn, the repulsion close to that of the natural lawn is often generated when the ball is dropped in consideration of the pile length, density, number of filaments, and the like. It is also colored green to give it the appearance of a natural lawn. This coloring is performed by mixing a pigment into the molten resin at the time of spinning the filament.

Conventional filaments for artificial lawns are extremely flat, for example, having a width of 0.6 mm and a thickness of 0.08 mm. Such a flat filament is
When viewed in the thickness direction, the content per unit area is smaller than when viewed in the width direction, so the color appears lighter, and if the pigment is not included so much, a color similar to natural grass cannot be obtained. Usually about 4% by weight of the total filament weight
Contains pigments. Especially in the case of loop pile, since the thickness direction of the filament is oriented in the radial direction of each loop,
The above problem is large. However, when the content of the pigment is increased, there are the following problems. The hit ball of a golf ball is
It rotates very quickly by hitting the ball, and the outer peripheral surface of the ball comes into contact with the lawn at high speed when it falls to the ground. At this time, if a large amount of frictional heat is generated, the synthetic resin of the filament melts and adheres to the ball surface. For example, when a polypropylene filament is used for artificial grass, the surface of the ball may have a film shape of 8 to 15 μm. Along with this, the pigment in the filament also adheres to the ball surface, and as a result, the ball is colored green. Further, when the resin deteriorates due to long-term use of the artificial lawn, the pigment in the filament is easily separated from the filament surface, and the separated pigment causes the ball to be colored green. The peeling of the pigment due to the deterioration of the resin causes a problem of color adhesion not only in the golf ball but also in various applications.

FIG. 1 shows a cross section of an artificial lawn according to the present invention. A plurality of filaments 1 are bundled and planted in a loop on a base cloth such as a woven cloth, and a backing material 3 is provided on the back surface thereof. Is applied. The planting of the filaments 1 on the base cloth 2 and the application of the backing material 3 can be performed in the same manner as in the conventional artificial grass.

FIG. 2 shows an enlarged example of the filament 1. As shown in the drawing, the filament is in a state in which the pigment 11 is dispersed in the base material 10 of synthetic resin. The resin 10 may be the same as in conventional filaments for artificial grass such as polypropylene and saran, and the same may be applied to the pigment. This filament has a major axis W of 0.25 mm in cross section and a minor axis T
Is 0.18 mm, and the flatness ratio is 1.38. The base material 10 is polypropylene, and the pigment containing carbon black, cyanine green, and yellow lead accounts for 0.675% by weight of the filament. Since the artificial lawn produced by this filament exhibits a green color close to that of a natural lawn, it is necessary that the flatness of the filament is 3 or less and the content of the pigment is 0.2% by weight or more. On the other hand, when the content of the pigment exceeds 2% by weight, the amount of the pigment is too large, which causes a problem of color adhesion to the golf ball and the like. The cross-sectional shape of the filament is circular in this example, but other various shapes such as an oval, a quadrangle, and a triangle as shown in FIG. 3 are possible.

The filament for artificial lawn according to the present invention has a small degree of flatness such that the flatness of the cross section is 3 or less, so that the content of the pigment per unit area in the thickness direction (the minor axis direction of the cross section) is small. As compared with the flat ones, the resulting pigment content is 0.2% by weight or more and 2% by weight or less, and it is possible to apply sufficient coloring close to that of natural grass. As described above, since the content of the pigment is low, the degree of coloring is so low that it does not matter even when a part of the pigment adheres to the surface of the ball by melting due to frictional contact with the golf ball. Even if the pigment peels off and adheres to a ball or other object, the degree of coloring is extremely low.
