Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the productivity of a card edge type surface mounted connector by surely and completely connecting even a circuit substrate provided with any number of connecting terminals spaced with an equal pitch between the respective two adjacent terminals to the connector via a single insulator. CONSTITUTION:In a connector composed of an insulator 41 having terminal fixation holes 41a arranged in two lines at equi-space pitches and plural number of jack terminals each having a tongue-piece-like contact 11a at one end thereof, the insulator 41 for retentively fixing the jack terminals in parallel with one another while the tongue-piece-like contacts 11a are kept at specified spaces is formed by providing the insulator with the number of the terminal fixation holes 41a corresponding to a number exceeding a required number of the terminals by not less than four terminals. Moreover, the connector is composed by providing it with at least two circuit-substrate guides 42, each having leg-like projections 42-1, 42-2 being able to be fixed to the insulator 41 via the two terminal fixation holes 41a mutually adjacent between the two lines thereof and also each formed with a groove 42a for guiding a circuit substrate 2 to a block portion joined to the leg-like projections along a side-face on one side of the groove so that the circuit-substrate may be positioned between lines of the contacts 11a.

Many types of card edge type surface mount connectors (hereinafter simply referred to as connectors) which are surface-mounted on the connection electrodes formed on the side edges of the circuit board across the edges have been put into practical use. However, in response to the recent demand for miniaturization of devices in the field of electronic equipment, miniaturization of the connector and further miniaturization of connection terminals attached to the connector are progressing, and stable connection between the connector and the circuit board is being made. How to secure is becoming a big issue.

However, in the case of the connector 1 described with reference to FIG. 4, since the positioning of the circuit board 2 with respect to the connector 1 depends on a manual or the like, the side view of FIG. 6 showing the problem is shown. The circuit board 2 is attached to the connector 1 with an inclination α as shown in (a), or the tongue-shaped contacts 11a of the connector 1 and the connection electrodes of the circuit board 2 are shown as (b) in the plan view. The contact 11a may be attached in a state where it is out of alignment with the contact 2a.
However, there is a problem in that special attention must be paid during the attachment, because the contact will come into contact with the adjacent connection electrode 2b.

Furthermore, when the above-mentioned inclination or positional deviation occurs during the time when the solder is fixed by soldering by the reflow technique or the like, the two are connected as they are, and as a result, the connector 1 is connected. In the case of the connector 3 described with reference to FIG. 5, it is necessary to prepare a connector having the same number of connection terminals as the circuit board 2, and in particular, recently, circuit boards having different specifications are often used. When it comes, there is a problem that it is necessary to prepare connectors suitable for each specification, and as a result, the series is expanded and it is not possible to expect improvement in productivity.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION According to the above object, an insulator in which terminal fixing holes are aligned in a plurality of rows at a constant pitch between adjacent terminals and one end is formed in a tongue-shaped contact for surface mounting. A card edge type surface mount connector comprising a plurality of jack terminals or plug terminals, wherein the tongue-shaped contacts of the plurality of jack terminals or plug terminals form two surfaces with a predetermined interval. The insulator that is exposed in parallel and is held and fixed is formed with a number of terminal fixing holes that exceeds the required number of terminals by at least four or more, and the insulating is performed by two terminal fixing holes that are adjacent between rows. It has leg-like projections that can be fixed to the body, and when fixed to the insulator by the leg-like projections, the required circuit board can be guided by one side thereof to be positioned between the rows of the tongue-shaped contacts. Groove It is achieved by the card-edge type surface mount connector configured circuit board guide that is formed in the block portion connected to the leg-like projections at least two comprises by.

In the description of the present invention, the terminal-fixing hole of the insulator is a square hole because the rectangular bent portion of the jack terminal is a fixing portion for the insulator. However, it is necessary to limit the hole to a square hole. It is clear that the same effect can be obtained by using a hole matching the shape of the jack terminal fixing portion.

In the description of the present invention, the case where the two rows of jack terminals are arranged in a zigzag pattern is taken as an example. However, when the terminals are arranged in a matrix, the leg-shaped projections of the circuit board guide are formed. Equivalent effects can be obtained by forming them according to the arrangement, and even when the jack terminals are plug terminals, completely the same effects can be obtained.
