Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject cloth having an infrared ray reflecting performance comparable to be cloth used in battlefield, having high washability and durability to wear in camouflage performance by applying a coloring matter having a specific composition to cloth of a polyester fiber or nylon fiber. CONSTITUTION:The objective cloth is obtained by applying a coloring matter consisting of (A) 1-10wt.% dye (based on fiber) having affinity to a fiber consisting of a polyester fiber or a nylon fiber and having a specific infrared ray reflecting capability in a specific infrared ray wavelength range and (B) 1-10wt.% pigment (based on fiber) which does not exhibit affinity to said fibers. A fixing agent having flameproof performance or a fixing agent containing a flame proofing agent is preferably used in order to fix the coloring matter and the pigment to the cloth. Furthermore, the fixing ratio of the components A to B on the fiber is preferably (1:2) to (10:1).

2. Description of the Related Art Recently, a new reconnaissance method has been devised on the battlefield, and infrared rays are used for this purpose. For example, when an infrared photograph is taken of an aircraft such as a military facility or army on the ground from an aircraft, an image that can be distinguished from surrounding objects such as the military facility or army is presented. Similarly, reconnaissance such as direct shooting with infrared night mirrors and infrared filters is also conducted.
Therefore, in order to counter such a reconnaissance method using infrared rays, there is a demand for a cover, camouflage clothing, personal equipment and the like having infrared ray reflection performance similar to battlefields in the infrared region.

It is desirable for each color to have a reflectance close to the infrared reflectance of objects around the location where the camouflage fabric is used. For example, khaki, green, etc. are in the range of visible light (400 to 700 nm) and have hues close to those of forests and grasslands, as well as in the infrared range (680 to 150).
At 0 nm), it is desirable that the reflectance be close to the reflectance of the leaves of plants, and likewise that brown is close to the reflectance of dead trees, black, dark brown, soil, rocks, and the like.

Examples of the coloring material include pigments and dyes. When pigments are used, a camouflage cloth having a specific infrared reflectivity can be obtained by the technique disclosed in JP-A-63-66385. .. However, when the technique is used for polyester fiber or nylon fiber, the coating durability with the fiber is poor, and therefore, practically,
Poor high durability (washing durability and wearing durability). On the other hand, when a dye is used (in contrast to this), since the dye has a high affinity for the fiber, it is possible to obtain practically high durability (washing durability and wearing durability).
However, since the dye has a very high reflectance in a specific infrared wavelength region, it is impossible to produce a camouflage fabric having a predetermined infrared reflectivity with the dye alone. Therefore, by optimizing the mixing ratio of the dye and the pigment, it is possible to obtain a camouflage cloth having practically high durability (washing durability and wearing durability) and a predetermined infrared reflectivity in a specific infrared wavelength region.
