Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily make the display device large in size and inexpensive although the display device has high resolution by consisting of the device of plural display areas which differ in resolution and increasing the resolution toward the center part. CONSTITUTION:The display device 1 is divided equally and vertically into five; and the center display area 1a has the highest resolution, the display areas 1b above and below it have 2nd high resolution, and the uppermost and lowermost display areas have the lowest resolution. Display data from a CPU 2 are written in display memories 5a-5c corresponding to the display areas 1a-1 of the display device 1 by a CPU 4, and they are read out and supplied by drivers 6a-6c to the respective display areas 1a-1c, where the data are displayed. Namely, when the display device 1 is viewed, the center part of the display screen is easily seen, so the display areas which are closer to the center part are made higher in resolution, so that the visual resolution of the display device 1 does not decrease so much even when the resolution is decreased with the distance from the center part.

The present invention further includes a plurality of display areas 1a,
As for 1b and 1c, the resolution becomes higher toward the center. When a human looks at a display device, his or her line of sight is likely to reach the center of the display surface. Therefore, by setting the resolution to a desired higher resolution in a display area closer to the center, the resolution increases as the distance from the center increases. The decrease does not significantly reduce the visual resolution of the display device.
