Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title sheet at a low cost without using heat by coating one side of a plastic film with pressure-sensitive inks in a multicolor pattern by a specific procedure and protecting the side coated with the inks with a release paper. CONSTITUTION:A pressure-sensitive ink 2' is applied on one side of a release paper 3' in a given patterning position and then dried. The coated side is stuck to a transparent plastic film 1 and then the release paper 3' is released. Another pressure sensitive adhesive ink 2'' is applied on one side of another release paper 3'' in a given patterning position and then dried. The obtained surface of the pressure sensitive ink 2'' is stuck properly in a given position on the formerly obtained surface of the pressure sensitive ink 2', and this procedure is repeated in succession to pile up the inks as a multicolor pattern. Further, as occasion demands, the release paper 3'' used in the last step is released, and a transparent pressure sensitive adhesive 4 is applied on a further release paper 3 and then dried. Thereafter, the surface of the adhesive 4 is stuck on the surface of the multicolor pattern. Thus, the title sheet is obtained.

[Prior Art] Pressure-sensitive adhesive sheets used as base materials for adhesive labels and stickers have excellent printing effects for multicolored characters and figures (i.e., patterns), and at the same time, they are environmentally friendly after they are used. Durability is often required depending on the conditions. One of the countermeasures is to use a pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet that uses transparent plastic that is durable in the specified environment, prints a pattern on one side, and then processes the printed surface with pressure-sensitive adhesive.
It is common knowledge to use a so-called back-printing colored pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet or patterned pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet. This ensures that the pressure-sensitive adhesive labels and stickers exhibit the durability of their transparent plastic surface, and that the printed and pressure-sensitive adhesive surfaces are shielded and protected from environmental conditions by the plastic. will be done.

However, among the plastics that can be used as surface base materials, there are many types, including those that are thin and have low tensile strength, and those that cannot be directly printed due to poor solvent resistance. For example, examples of materials that are thin and have low tensile strength include polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene dipropylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl alcohol, cellophane, acetate, polyester, fluorine, urethane, polystyrene, and polycarbonate. Examples of materials with poor solvent resistance include polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polyacrylate, polycarbonate, polystyrene, and polyurethane.

In order to print on such a base material without causing any defects, special means can be considered, such as printing on processing paper (film) in advance and then transferring it to the surface base material using heat.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] In order to print on plastic films with low strength or poor solvent resistance, a method such as printing on process paper (film) in advance and transferring it using heat as described above is used. If you choose to do so, you will encounter the following difficulties.

The first difficulty is that when printing on process paper (film), unless you carefully select and consider the relationship between the type of ink, viscosity, printing method, type of release treatment for process paper (film), etc.
It is easy to cause problems such as ink repellency, blurring, and poor transfer.

The second difficulty is that the above thermal transfer method requires the plastic film itself to have heat resistance, thermal dimensional stability, etc. Without heat resistance and thermal dimensional stability, the film will have significant defects in appearance such as wrinkles, shrinkage, or distortion of the printed pattern due to partial shrinkage during thermal transfer, which will impair commercial value. In addition, since such processing paper (film) is for special purposes, it has disadvantages in terms of cost, making it impractical.

If the amount of these colorants is too large, it may not function as a pressure-sensitive adhesive, so it is necessary to provide a transparent pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 to ensure adhesion to the adherend. However, when the amount of colorant is small, the function as a pressure-sensitive adhesive is fully expressed, so the transparent pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4
can be omitted.

Generally, any commonly used material can be used for the transparent plastic film 1 used as the surface base material, but for applications where weather resistance is particularly important, fluorine, polyurethane, polyacrylic, polycarbonate, weather-resistant polyvinyl chloride, weather-resistant polyester, etc. are used. A plastic film with weather resistance functionality can be used. Furthermore, for applications where stain resistance and chemical resistance are important, fluorine, polyurethane, etc. are preferable.

The pressure-sensitive adhesive that serves as the binder for the pressure-sensitive adhesive ink may be any pressure-sensitive adhesive that can be colored, such as rubber-based or silicone-based adhesives, but acrylic-based pressure-sensitive adhesives are preferable in terms of weather resistance and durability. The acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive is preferably an ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid having an alkyl group having 2 to 12 carbon atoms, and specifically, ethyl acrylate, which belongs to the family of acrylic esters, Isononyl acrylate, lauryl acrylate, etc., and methyl methacrylate, ethyl methacrylate, propyl methacrylate, butyl methacrylate, 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate, innonyl methacrylate, which belong to the methacrylic acid ester family.
Examples include lauryl methacrylate. These monomers are usually used in one or more types to produce solvent-type or emulsion-type acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives by solution polymerization, emulsion polymerization, etc. is also available.

First, a pressure-sensitive adhesive ink is applied in a pattern onto the release paper 3' by a conventional method and dried to form a pressure-sensitive adhesive ink layer 2° (step 2). Next, a plastic film 1', which is a surface base material, is attached to this coated surface by a conventional method at room temperature (Step 2). Furthermore, a predetermined pressure-sensitive adhesive ink is applied to a separately prepared release paper surface 3'' according to the pattern planned for use in the second color printing, and dried in the same manner as in step (2) to form a second pressure-sensitive adhesive ink layer 2. After step (■) to form ", remove the release paper 3 degrees from the members laminated in step (■), and place the ink-coated surface obtained in step (■) at the predetermined imprinting position on the plastic film surface. Align and paste correctly (Step ■). The above two-color printing process has been completed, but when performing multi-color printing, pressure-sensitive adhesive ink layers are laminated by repeating steps 1, 2 and 3 many times (step 2). When the amount of colorant in the pressure-sensitive adhesive ink is small, the final laminate obtained in this way is used as the finished product of this process, but due to reasons such as a large amount of colorant, the pressure-sensitive adhesive If it is difficult to function as an adhesive, peel off the release paper 3'' from the final laminate (Step ■), and separately form a transparent pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 4 on the release paper 3 (Step ■). The finished product of this process is made by pasting it on the surface coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive ink that was exposed in step (■).

In the above manufacturing process of the multicolor patterned pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet, there are no particular limitations on the method of coating the release paper with the pressure-sensitive adhesive, which is the binder of the pressure-sensitive adhesive ink, and the coating machine. Instead, any material that can be coated in a pattern may be used, and partial coating is also possible using a printing method. Specifically, letterpress printing, planographic printing, gravure printing, engraving intaglio printing, silk screen printing, rotary silk screen printing, and flexo printing can be used.
