When connecting such a flat cable 1, for example, when making an intermediate connection, if the size of the flat cable 1 is relatively small, a compression connecting sleeve 4 as shown in FIGS. 4A and 4B is used to connect the flat cable 1. The conductors were connected by compression. However, the size L of the compressor (not shown) normally used in such compression connection method is 100 to 120 mm.
m/m or less, so large sizes such as L
However, it was not possible to connect flat cables larger than 120m/m, and therefore the compression connection method was not adopted, and instead welded connection methods and methods of connecting conductors one by one were used.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] However, the welding connection method requires extensive preparation on-site, and there is a risk of fire. Furthermore, the method of connecting conductor cores one by one is time-consuming and has the problem of increasing the size of the finished product and taking up space.

[Means for Solving the Problems] The flat cable connection method according to the present invention involves individually inserting a plurality of parallel conductors of the flat cable into the staggered conductor insertion holes of the connection sleeve. After insertion, the connecting sleeve is compressed to integrate the conductor and the connecting sleeve.

[Example] Hereinafter, an example of the flat cable connection method according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to FIG. 1st
Figure A is a front view showing two flat cables 1 and a connecting sleeve 5 for connecting these flat cables 1, and Figure 1B is a line BB in Figure 1A.
FIG. 1C is a cross-sectional view of the connecting sleeve in FIG.
The connection sleeve 5 used in the present invention differs from the conventional compression connection sleeve 4 which has conductor insertion holes 4A arranged linearly as shown in FIG. 4B, as shown in FIG. 1B. It has conductor insertion holes 5A and 5B arranged in a staggered manner. Moreover, the number of these conductor insertion holes is the same as the number of conductors 2 of the flat cable 1.

According to the connection method of the present invention, first, a plurality of conductors 2, for example, five conductors, of a flat cable 1 are arranged in parallel.
Of these, three conductors 2 are separately inserted into the three conductor insertion holes 5A in the center of the connection sleeve 5, and the remaining two conductors 2 are separately inserted into the two conductor insertion holes 5B at both ends. Insert into. At this time, some of the conductors 2 are bent and inserted as shown in FIG. 1A. As a result, the conductor 2 is concentrated in the center of the connecting sleeve 5, making it possible to use a portable compressor (not shown) having a width l much smaller than L in FIG. It becomes possible to adopt the connection method. In other words, it is possible to connect a large-sized flat cable exceeding L. Thereafter, the connecting sleeve 5 into which the conductor 2 has been inserted is compressed using a commonly used portable compressor to connect the conductor 2 and the connecting sleeve 5 together as shown in FIG. 1C.
