Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent accidental bending or buckling of a terminal by partially putting an insulation film on a connector terminal of a male connector arranging a large number of connector terminals of a male connector to be connected electrically to a female connector. CONSTITUTION:Insualtion film coating Ic8 id not applied to ground terminals 5 but applied to power source terminals 6 over a small range from the terminal tip, and applied to signal terminals 7 over a wider range than to the power source terminals 6. at the time of connecting the male connector 1 to the female connector 2, the electrical connection is made with the coating Ic8 from the terminals 5 for releasing static electrically, followed by the connection with the terminals 7, and finally with the terminals 7 when connected to the full depth. at the time of pulling out the connector 1 from the connector 2, shutoff is made in the reverse sequence to that described above in the order of terminals 7, 6, and 5 so that sparks occurring between the terminals 6 and the corresponding female contacts 4 is released to the ground through the terminals 5. In comparison to the connectors having different terminal length, there is no possibility of the terminals being bent or buckled. Manufacturing process are also simplified.

A male connector with different terminal lengths as shown in Figure 4 has a grounding terminal 9. Three types of terminals, power terminals 10, 11 and signal terminals 12, of different lengths are provided. When this male connector 14 is inserted into the female connector 13, the grounding terminal 9 first comes into contact with the female contact 15, an electrical connection is established, and static electricity and noise are removed.

The conventional connectors mentioned above all use terminals of different lengths, so terminals of different lengths are prepared in the process of (5).
This obviously requires more steps in the processing of the terminal than for a single length terminal. Also, for terminals of the same length, it was possible to do it all at once when inserting them into a housing, etc., but this is not possible with terminals of different lengths, and it is necessary to increase the process for each type of length. There is. Furthermore, when inserting into the female contact (Fig. 4), the longest terminal 9 is inserted into the female contact 13 first, but in the initial stage, only the longest terminal 9 is inserted into the female contact 13 as shown in Fig. 6. Compared to connectors with the same terminal length, when just connected, the lateral force applied at the initial stage of insertion concentrates only on the longest terminal, causing "sagging" and, in the worst case, bending or buckling. There is also fear. In addition, if the female contact 13 position is shifted, the shape of the female contact housing must not be made more complicated, and, like connectors with different length terminals, female contacts with different lengths are prepared, which increases the process. There was a problem.

Further, these connectors simultaneously electrically connect when the male contact 14 and the female contact 13 are brought into mechanical contact. In other words, errors in the order of connection are likely to occur due to misalignment of the contacts, and in order to prevent this, it is necessary to increase the amount of misalignment, which has the disadvantage of increasing the size of the contact itself.

When the male connector 1 and the female connector 2 are about to be mated together, at the initial stage, the tip of each connector terminal 3 contacts the female contact 4, and 1. At this time, even if the power supply terminal 6 and the signal terminal 7 are in contact with each other due to the insulating film coating 8, no electrical connection is established. At this point, only the grounding terminal 5 is electrically connected, through which static air can be cooled and flowed. Then, when the connector terminal 3 is inserted into the female contact 4 to about half of the terminal length, the part of the power supply terminal 6 that is not coated with the insulating film coating 8 comes into contact with the female contact 4, and an electrical connection is established. , power is supplied. Then, only when the male connector 1 and the female connector 2 are completely fitted together, the signal terminal 7 becomes electrically connected to the female contact 4.

In addition, when removing the connector, first, the male connector 1 begins to separate from the female connector 2, and soon the insulating film coating 8 of the signal terminal 7 comes to the contact point of the female contact 4, cutting off the electrical connection.
