Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a good black matrix film free from defect, and to improve production efficiency by wetting the inner surface of a glass panel with hot water after an etching liquid is wasted. CONSTITUTION:A graphite suspension liquid is applied to the inner surface of a glass panel 1 on which a setting resinous film sensitized and hardened is formed, and after it is dried, an etching liquid comprising hydrogen peroxide water and acid, is applied, soaked, and the setting resinous film is embrittled and swollen through chemical reaction. After the etching liquid is wasted, the desiccation of the inner surface of the glass panel 1 due to the heat of chemical reaction of the etching liquid, is prevented by applying hot water 3 blasted from a nozzle 4 to the inner surface of the glass panel 1, and the embrittlement and swelling of the setting resinous film are ensured. A good black matrix film free of defect can be formed thereby, and the productivity of a color picture tube can thus be improved.

In general, in a black matrix type color picture tube, in order to improve contrast, the spaces between green, blue, and red phosphor pixels are filled with a non-light-emitting light-absorbing material, such as graphite, to form a phosphor. A film formed from this non-light-emitting light-absorbing material is called a black matrix film, and the following methods are available for forming this film.

First, the inner surface of the glass panel is cleaned with hydrogen fluoride and pure water, and then the inner surface is coated with a photosensitive resin liquid containing polyvinyl alcohol and ammonium dichromate, or a photosensitive resin containing polyvinylpyrrolidron and a bisazide compound. By applying the liquid and rotating the glass panel at high speed, the photosensitive resin liquid is spread uniformly over the inner surface of the glass panel.

Next, a portion of the photosensitive resin film is photocured by exposure to ultraviolet light through a shadow mask placed a certain distance from the inner surface of the glass panel. At this time, the photosensitive cured resin film is located at a position where green, blue, and red color phosphor pixels will be formed later, and exposure is usually performed three times by changing the relative position 1 between the glass panel and the light source.

Next, green, blue, and red phosphor pixels are formed at each position of the black matrix hole, and a filming film is applied so that the aluminum film is smooth. After that, an aluminum film is formed by vacuum evaporation and heat treated. The filming film is burnt out and the black matrix film of the phosphor screen of the color picture tube is completed.

However, in the above-described conventional method for manufacturing a phosphor black matrix film for a color picture tube, as shown in FIG. When a black matrix film is formed, the photosensitive cured resin film in that area becomes brittle and does not swell and cannot be removed together with the graphite film deposited on it by hot water spray.
As shown in FIG. 5, a defect in the part 8 without a black matrix hole occurs, resulting in a defective color picture tube.
A problem has arisen in that production efficiency is reduced.

As explained above, in the method of manufacturing the phosphor black matrix film of a color picture tube according to the present invention, warm water is applied to the inner surface of the glass panel after the etching solution has been disposed of, and the inner surface of the glass panel is moistened to remove the glass by the heat of the chemical reaction of the etching solution. By having a process that prevents the inner surface of the panel from drying, the cured resin film that has been photocured is reliably deoxidized and moistened, and both the cured resin film and the graphite deposited on it are removed, resulting in a good black without any defects. This has the effect of not only being able to form a matrix film but also improving the productivity of color picture tubes.
