潜像を形成させこれを現像装置で現像した後転写
部で転写シートに転写し、転写後の前期像担持体
をクリーニング装置によりクリーニングする画像
形成装置において、 一方向側であつて前記像担持体が前記露光部か
ら前記転写部に向かつて移動する方向側に前記現
像装置と前記クリーニング装置とを配設すると共
に、前記像担持体を前記一方向側及び転写を終了
した後にその反対方向側に移動させ、前記像担持
体が前記一方向側へ移動するときには前記現像装
置を作動位置にし前記クリーニング装置を退避位
置にし、前記像担持体が前記反対方向側へ移動す
るときには前記クリーニング装置を作動位置にし
前記現像装置を退避位置にする、ことを特徴とす
る画像形成装置。 (2) 前記現像装置と前記クリーニング装置とを
一体的に組み合わせたことを特徴とする請求項1
