Abstract

PURPOSE:To greatly prolong the life of plug by allowing metallic salt or phosphate salt or lubricant contg. them to be present preliminarily on the inside surface of rolled stock (alloy steel tube). CONSTITUTION:When a rolled stock is rolled by adding lubricant on its inside surface, forward efficiency is improved by the lubricating effect of lubricant and the rolling time is shortened. Simultaneously, the temp. rise of plug is restrained because lubricant works as a heat insulating film and the high improvement of life of plug is made possible because the rolled stock is prevented from direct contact with the plug. As lubricant, chloride or phosphate salt which melts at the temp. of <=1000 deg.C and which has a kind of fluid lubricative action is suitable.

(Prior Art) In the manufacturing process of seamless steel pipes, there is an elongation mill as a drawing process that follows the drilling process. In this mill, perforated material is rolled using a pair of barrel-shaped rolls and a plug installed inside. This Elongator is a plug,
A low-alloy steel with a Cr/Ni ratio of 1 to 3, such as the 39ci Cr 19oNi series, which has been heat-treated to have a black scale is used. 1 with the above plug
When rolling alloy steel such as 3Cr steel, there is a problem that the life of the plug is extremely reduced. The reason for the short life is that alloy steel has a high friction coefficient and the initial scale of the plug is worn out early, and ordinary steel has a lot of scale, so scale transfer occurs during rolling, whereas alloy steel has a large amount of scale. This is thought to be due to the fact that the effect is not as expected. As a result, the heat resistance is compromised, wear and deformation of the plug, commonly called gouging, and seizing of the rolled material occur, resulting in the end of its life.

As disclosed in the above publication, there is a method of discharging cooling water from the tip of the plug, but although this method can improve the life a little, it does not lead to a sufficient improvement.

The inventors of the present invention have investigated various methods for improving the plug life in rolling alloy steel, and have found that the plug life can be improved by adding an appropriate lubricant to the rolled material. When alloy steel is rolled with a scale-treated plug, the forward efficiency of the rolled material decreases by 5 to 10% due to the high friction coefficient of the alloy steel itself. As a result, the rolling time is extended, and the temperature of the plug increases, making it more likely to wear out.

On the other hand, when a lubricant is added to the inner surface of the rolled material and rolled, the lubricant's lubricating effect improves the forward movement 1f-1, shortens the rolling time, and at the same time acts as a lubricant or heat insulating film, suppressing the temperature rise of the plug, and Since the rolled material is prevented from coming into direct contact with the plug, a long service life can be achieved. In this case, glass-based lubricants cannot be used. This is because the glass and plug surface scale are combined and melted, and the scale disappears.

MgC12, BaCl2, etc. are KP as phosphates.
Examples include O3, Na2PO3, etc. The amount to be added is 5 cc to 10 (lee/rrf). If it is less than 5 cc, it will not be able to exhibit a sufficient lubricating effect, and if it is more than 100 cc, it will be pushed out by the lubricant or plug during rolling and will adhere to the main roll, causing slipping. This is because stable rolling cannot be obtained.
