Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to start an engine even when the number of times that a starting rope is pulled at low temperatures is small by associating movement of a switching valve installed in an auxiliary fuel passage with that of the starting rope, and opening the valve when the rope is pulled. CONSTITUTION:When a starting rope 21 is pulled by a starting lever 22 a base portion 22a is extracted from a stopper 23 and separated from a valve bar 31 and the valve body 31 is separated from a valve opening 30 by the action of a spring. Then a coil starter 20 is actuated for cranking and thereby negative pressure is generated in an intake passage 8 and gasoline in an oil surface room 6 is sucked into an intake passage 9 through an auxiliary fuel passage 25. When the force to pull the starting lever 22 is weakened the lever 22 is fitted in the stopper 23 and closes a switching valve 26 and an engine is started with an increased amount of fuel. Even when the engine is not started by one operation at low temperatures, an increased amount of fuel is supplied to the engine each time the starting lever 22 is pulled, and the engine can be started by several times of operation even at very low temperatures.
